My son and I enjoyed a picnic lunch here as well as walked the trail through the greenway thereafter that has beautiful scenery, animals, park benches featuring personal dedications and signage explaining the history of the grounds. Definitely a spot of leisure.

We live nearby and have visited Luray, Va., many times over the years, but we just discovered this lovely, peaceful FREE Park in May 2014. We parked in one of the many areas available, walked a winding trail along a meandering river, and thought we had stumbled into Heaven!

I can't remember ever feeling such a sense of peace. Even the ducks are friendly - they obligingly posed for their picture! Children splashed in the river, families picnicked, dog walkers and bicyclists passed us, and we felt so lucky to have discovered a Park we plan to return to again and again.

Hawksbill Greenway, a well-kept local secret, is beautifully maintained and not heavily traveled - just a few people, making it seem like a dream to city dwellers, which we used to be. It's right on the edge of the interesting town of Luray, which boasts galleries, great restaurants, lots of little fun shops, nearby Luray Caverns & wonderful places to stay like cozy Brookside Cabins just a few miles east of town.

What's not to like? Annie and Mack Rowe, Madison, Va.

I really loved this walk. It was peaceful and paved throughout. It has plenty of birds around the river. We bought a loaf of bread and fed the ducks along river bank. It has an area where there area a few table to enjoy and watch the kids swim in the river. It had some beautiful murals on the buildings and under the bridge. We enjoyed it a lot.

Nice nature walk below the streets of Luray. Paved easy walk with painted collages along the way. Restrooms are also available along the route.

I have been on numerous trails, and this one beat the expectations I was giving it.
Quiet, streams, level pavement, wildlife, this is the place to be as the skies lighten up in the early morning hours.

Thumbs up for the town of Luray to add this to their town.
