“Easy Hike with Great View”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

This was our first hike in SNP and we found it easy. We were rewarded with a gorgeous view at the top. Nice spot for a snack or picnic on a nice day. It is a fairly popular hike, so be prepared for company.

“One of the Best Hikes in Virginia”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

I love this hike! The views are just amazing, not just from the top but all along the trails along the cliffs.
Stony Man is easy to reach, being just along Skyline Drive, and isn't all that strenuous.

The trails are well-maintained and easy to follow, but you should always have a map with you. We went on a beautiful day at the beginning of October and the trail wasn't crowded at all...there were people but I think with enough cross-trails and what-not, there was not any issue with crowding.

Bring a snack and take a perch at the top of Stony Man and just enjoy the magnificent view.

Just be aware that there is a fee to enter the Skyline Drive, though we have the National Parks Pass so I think the fee without the Pass is $15.00.

“Scenic, easy hike, with a rewarding view at the top”

Easy hiking through beautiful forest on a well established, gravel-topped trail. The view from the top of Stony Man is unbelievable.

“Wonderful view”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

The Stony Man hike is a nice quick beginner hike to a wonderful view of the valley and the mountain range. It is an easy walk. If you are lucky you might see some falcons floating on the air currents over the mountains.
