Decided to stop at Luray Caverns on the way home from South Carolina. Called the Caverns and asked them what was the best hotel in town. With trepidations, reserved a "suite" at the Mimslyn Inn. A 10-15 min. ride from interstate 81, we passed some pretty scary motels! The Mimslyn Inn is an old structure set up on a hill, and I still didn't know what I was in for when I opened the front door.
Impeccable front desk, impeccable bar service, great room, great food. I never wanted to leave my wood rocking chair as I sat overlooking the Shenandoah Valley. Not enough stars for this place. It was pricey, but I wouldn't have boarded my rotweiller at the $49 place across the street.

My wife and I stayed here as a backup to staying @ the Skyland Resort while catching the last weekend of the Fall leaves changing over and I have to say the Mimslyn Inn is far better than any accommodations you can expect to find inside Shenandoah National Park. The room as clean and well appointed however the furniture was a little over stated for the size of the room making it a little difficult to get around. Had a late dinner at the Speakeasy Lounge which was very good as well. Staff was incredibly pleasant and help full. Best part of the stay was catching an Edgar Alan Poe reading down @ the BB&T Theater.

My husband and I stayed at the Mimslyn for 9 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would describe it as both elegant & charming. The hotel was completely remodeled in 2008 and is immaculately kept. Our room was one of the smaller ones, but very nicely appointed. Very comfortable bed; maybe pillow could have been better. Excellent Wi-fi. reception. ALL of the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Lovely upstairs sunporch to relax in on a cold afternoon. Outside patio area off of that. Great location too.

This was our second stay in three weeks..and it was better then the first! My wife and I brought our son and his girlfriend back for the Oktoberfest! And as usual, the room was spotless and well appointed, the food at the Speakeasy and breakfast was delicious, and the staff...from the front desk to the servers were fantastic! My wife and I are planning to be back for the New Year's Eve gala...can't wait! Thumbs up to an OUTSTANDING experience at The Mimslyn Inn....again!!

My husband and I stayed one night at the Mimslyn Inn and wished we could stay longer. Every staff member we encountered was professional and very very nice. The room and entire inn was beautiful and immaculate. I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness and I could not have asked for better. The Sunday Brunch was fantastic not tons of choices but what was there was quality and the service excellent ! We will return to the area just to stay at the Mimslyn Inn again.

The hotel was nice, but not worth the price. It was a non-smoking facility with a roof deck designated for smoking. There was a fire place on this deck and it was completely full of cigarette butts. Obviously hadn't been cleaned out in a very long time. We picked this hotel because of its restaurant, but were extremely disappointed. We had planned a special dinner, but for $150 for 2 people, it was definitely not worth it. Service was extremely slow. We started with martinis and the bar tender knocked them off the table when he attempted to serve them and broke the glasses. We did receive new drinks, but thought they should have offered to comp them. The food was adequate at best.

Stayed here for a wedding. It was beautiful. The Inn itself has and oldtime charm that is hard to find in modern hotels nowadays. It is beautifully decorated. The rooms where updated and very nice. The entire hotel was very clean. And the staff was extremely friendly. The wedding was held out side and was beautiful. The food was great, although the free breakfast could have been a bit more. But overall we had a great time.
