After a bad expereince at a local b&b we had to check into a local hotel- we called the Mimslyn and they quoted a price but asked a follow up question - which in turn we answered with the reason of looking for a hotel last minute (as we were checking out of our current location) - the woman on the phone then gave us a better price and we were able to check in within 20 minutes! The staff and hotel itself was very accomodating, nicely furnished, friendly! The Speakeasy restaurant downstairs was a great dinner place and nice bar with live music! Unfortunatly we didnt have time to eat at the formal restaurant upstairs Check out was at 12pm the next day and was a BREEZE!
If in the area we would stay again!!!!

Looking for an alternative to the Jordan Hollow Farm Inn (which seems to be slip-sliding away), this was our first visit and it won't be the last. Friendly, attentive staff, excellent food & wine list & interesting rooms (stay on the top floor if its in your budget). I was suprised to see old staff members of Jordan Hollow Inn, working there - a "flight to quality" perhaps? We loved our stay and will be back.

I've stayed at the Mimslyn off and on for 20 years and was very happy to see it had been bought and renovated instead of torn down. It truly is an historical landmark in the valley and has that old world ambiance and charm along with business amenities such as wireless. The service is impeccable, the rooms nicely done, if a bit small, and the food is good. The front desk is responsive and goes out of its way to accommodate. The coffee, both in the rooms and at the restaurant, however, is awful--I went to a coffee shop in town after an otherwise excellent breakfast for decent coffee.

There's ample parking, and a nice bar/restaurant for lower cost meals--and no smoking, which is a plus for me.

My family spent a very enjoyable Halloween weekend at the Mimslyn. The Inn has been beautifully restored, staff are extremely friendly & helpful, rooms were wonderful and the breakfast buffett was excellent. We also enjoyed casual dinners in the bar/lounge downstairs. The rooftop patio with fireplace is wonderful spot to watch the sun rise or set .
The staff was very accommodating regarding my mother's requirements for handicap features and even changed her room to ensure her needs were met.
We plan to return to the Mimslyn soon!

We went to the Mimslyn Inn to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Our entire stay was simply wonderful. I would reccomend it to everyone. The historic inn is beautifully restored and gives you a real taste for southern hospitality. I have lived in 27 different cities in my life but feel the most comfortable in Virginia. Our suite was very nicely decorated with wonderful views out the domer windows into the mountains that were spectactular. The staff of the hotel and the resturant were very friendly and helpful. The Inn was decorated for the holidays and the grand piano was played for the dinning hours which really set you in the mood for the Christmas holiday season. Our dinner in the main dinning room was subperb. The breakfast selections were also very good. The town of Luray, Virginia, has a warm hosptiality to everyone. The antique shops, art galleries, and resturants were fun, enjoyable, and interesting. We will definitely return to the Mimsyln Inn.

My husband and I went to The Mimslyn Inn for a weekend getaway. We had a lovely, clean room with a fireplace. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ate at the main restaurant only for breakfast, and it seemed that they did not prepare enough food at the buffet for the number of guests. We found ourselves waiting for quite some time. That was a minor glitch in an overall lovely stay. We did enjoy the pub downstairs for both drinks and a light dinner. I am hoping that the town of Luray develops a bit more in terms of stores and restaurants. Still, it's a wonderful, relaxing place to get away to. In itself, The Mimslyn Inn is just beautiful.

We just returned from a visit to Luray. The catalyst was an article in AutoWeek (yes, I know....) that talked about the fabulous driving on the Parkway. That's why we came. It described several places to stay and Mimslyn Inn was picked as the best luxury hotel and one that Eleanor Roosevelt stayed in.

The driving was OK. It was November 10th, and due to a very strong storm the day prior, all the leaves were down. So there was no scenery. But it was fine. We drove from the Northern end (Fort Royal) to the mid point and returned up to Luray.

We were thinking about going to the caverns and stopped to check them out. Several tour busses and many, many children turned us off.

We went directly to the Inn.

We had dinner at the Speakeasy. Fabulous!!! And our room was magnificent. The pillows were the only downside (hard!). The room was large, spacious, and the people working there were great.

We had breakfast in the morning. Excellent ambiance, and they had coffee out early....which I love. Great work out area.

I'd recommend the inn easily. There just isn't much in the area.

Fabulous place, well kept, very lovely.

You won't be disappointed.

Janet
