The rooms are very nice and the staff is very friendly. The beds are very comfortable. The only negative was that the bathroom wAs cramped and the toilet was very close to bath tub. The hotel had a continental breakfast they offered which was a surprise since nothing was listed about that in reviews read.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at The Mimslyn Inn with other travelers. It appears that you have traveled a lot, so a great review from you means the world to us! Thank you for your kind words on our nice rooms, friendly staff and comfortable beds. Should your travels permit a return visit, and we truly hope that they do, please consider one of the Skyline Suites or Roosevelt Suites, both of which offer an oversize bathroom for your comfort and convenience.
We are pleased you enjoyed the complimentary coffee, juice and muffins offered the morning of your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

We stayed at the Mimslyn Inn because we thought it was the best hotel in Luray. Maybe it is but it was by far and away the hotel we liked the least of the places we visited during a week of traveling around Virginia and Pennsylvania.

First the pros - The hotel was a majestic old building on the top of a hill. The lobby was beautiful and the front porch was exceptional. But that's where the pros ended.

The cons - The room had no refrigerator, no coffee maker and no safe. You could only see half the TV from the bed. And the toilet was far from clean. There was rarely a bellman available despite the need to climb steps to enter the hotel. In short this hotel has virtually no amenities for a fairly expensive place.

To add insult to injury they charged my credit card double and when I called them a few days later they denied it. I had to call my credit card company to get the double charge removed.

Maybe there isn't a better hotel in Luray anyway. But that doesn't mean I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Facing the front would be better,

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to leave us a candid review. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and welcoming guests to the Inn as if they were a guest in our own home. We would like to apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations.
As noted in other reviews, we have very high standards for cleanliness and you can be assured that your concerns in that regard have been addressed. We sincerely hope you will reconsider staying with us again should your travels permit a return visit to our area. We would welcome the opportunity to exceed your expectations and would like you to know for your next visit that while we do have a bellman available, there is also a ramp for guests who prefer not to climb the stairs at the hotel entrance. We also offer a safe at the front desk for storage of valuables during your stay as well as fresh, free coffee anytime upon request in the lobby or delivered to your guest room.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay. We hope you will give us the opportunity to replace this experience with a positive one soon.

What a wonderful Inn with views all around! The Inn was perfectly decorated and every comfort possible! The room was extremely comfortable, and our view was spectacular! The staff was there to make your every need met with such enthusiasm and excellence! We especially enjoyed the pool area and had the area to ourselves most of the time. All and all this is a perfect get away for anyone who wanted to relax with peace and quiet, plenty of areas in the Inn and around the grounds to have for yourself! We also totally enjoyed the front porch area and 3rd floor deck watching the spectacular sunsets! I would recommend this Inn to all, it was our first time here and we will be back!

Room Tip: Mountain View was spectacular on 2nd or 3rd floors!

We stayed at the Mimslin Inn august 7&8 2014. It was our first visit and we both loved it.
The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. The porch is large and wonderful, with half set for dining (all 3 meals) and the other side for sitting and rocking.
We dined at both restaurants and had outstanding service and very good meals at both.
If you want relaxing southern comfort, this is great. We are returning in September.

This was our first trip to the Mimslyn, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Paul, Brenda, and Patrick were so pleasant and attentive. Yes, the room and bath were cozy, but the hotel overall is so quaint that a little coziness was not an issue. Breakfast in Circa '31 was a real treat and we enjoyed our dinner, and the music, at the Speakeasy downstairs. The pool is definitely small, designed more for a quick dunk than for swimming laps, but the hot tub is a plus. Although we didn't need them, we were happy to see the lift chairs which made it possible for those with disabilities to enjoy the water, too. We are ready to revisit the Mimslyn whenever time permits.

This is was our third stay at the Mimslyn Inn. (I'm sorry, I forgot to update my last review. Our stay was great the last time after having a rocky interaction prior to our arrival.) I received an email in advance of our stay, which was new. It is a nice touch. We booked a suite for two nights for some alone time after having spent a week with family in NC. The suite was wonderful and the beds are very comfortable. So, despite what is to follow, I highly recommend the Mimslyn. Our only disappointment was with the service we received in the Speakeasy restaurant. We tend to be casual and comfortable as regards dining, so the main restaurant isn't usually for us. The food was good but the service on the first night was awful. The wait staff was pleasant but were slow to nonexistent for us. The second day we sat at the bar because we thought we might fair better. Again, the food was great but the service was lacking. There were very few patrons but the bartender kept disappearing and was not able to get out order right, like he wasn't really paying attention. This is totally different from our experiences on our last two visits. Coming back in January and I am looking forward to it. We may have to dress for dinner and try the more formal restaurant. Also, hope to try the spa for the first on that visit.

Room Tip: Ask the staff for descriptions. They are your best resource depending on the view and other preferen...

Tonight we dined outside where we were served by a young lady named Rachel and a man named Alex. Both restaurants were incredibly busy, and there seemed to be only two - three servers out on the patio. Rachel was exceptional. Though we could tell she was incredibly busy, she was very attentive and polite. She still managed to ask us about our day and where we are from (Maryland) despite having a plethora of things to do. We appreciate good service and food and both were fantastic.
