We just happened upon the Inn as we were traveling to Luray Caverns. We arrived late in the evening and the few people we encountered in town all recommended the Inn.

Almost didn't go in to ask a price but did. The ladies at the desk where very helpful and were able to discount a room to a rate we could splurge on. It was well worth it. We stayed in suite 301. The kids had a ball with the jetted tub and sleeping in the king bed with me. Poor Dad got the couch in front of the electric fireplace, but he was happy enough.

Highly recommend spending a few extra dollars on this one.

I normally stay in budget-friendly hotels when I travel, but my stay here was courtesy of a LivingSocial deal (which included free souvenir wine glasses and tickets to Luray Caverns) and a generous gift (which allowed me to upgrade to a Blue Ridge Suite). This was almost everything I was hoping for, with just a few caveats. Courteous and friendly staff, jetted tub, fireplace in our room (which was remote control and not really a focal point for us...we watched TV after turning it on and kind of forgot it was there) - and the location is convenient to everything.

If I had anything to complain about, it was that the pillows were too fluffy (neck strain) and the free muffins in the morning were pretty much dry and tasteless. Plus, it's right next to a hospital, so we heard a lot of ambulances (fortunately, none in the middle of the night). But overall, this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had. This is a beautiful place with very clean and well-appointed rooms. We were just a few doors down from the lobby, but it wasn't disruptive to us in the slightest while we were in our room. Thankfully, the other guests respected the hotel's quiet hours, so it was a relatively peaceful stay.

this was a great living social deal; worth the price. I don't think I could justify it if it wasn't a discounted price. Lodging was absolutely beautiful. Expected a little higher quality food but overall it was a very nice getaway!

Room Tip: I upgraded the room so we could have an electric fireplace; not sure what the room offered look like...

The hotel is beautiful and is awesome looking, beautiful paintings and spiral staircase. We were very happy with the room, except the lavatory placement too close to the wall, and the fact there was only one sink to share. For the price, it could have been more luxurious. However, overall, the hotel is well decorated and sits on a hill with nice views. We ate in both restaurants. Speakeasy down in the basement has live music, but is overpriced by about 50% with mediocre food and slow service. Circa 31 has well prepared dishes, but is overpriced by more than double and the service is slow, even though there are not many customers. The hotel itself is beautiful, and appears to be the nicest in the area, but in the future we will eat elsewhere for better value, service and quality.

My wife and I have a tradition of going on a "getaway" weekend annually on or near Valentine's Day and, for the second year running, we chose the Mimslyn. We received an upgraded room (great bed!...the room did need a few minor tweaks that I pointed out) and enjoyed, identically to last year, a nice meal in the Speakeasy Friday night with the live music and friendly "crowd." Saturday, despite the chilly weather, we walked the full length of the "Greenway" in town and returned to the hotel to relax before dinner. Again, as we did last year, we dressed up for the superb fixed-price meal in Circa '31...wish other folks would dress to the quality of the restaurant and service, but that's ok. Sunday we enjoyed the excellent brunch before heading out after an outstanding weekend...room, staff, food, and service...all very nice.

Thank you for choosing to return to The Mimslyn Inn for your annual Valentine's Day weekend getaway! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your guest room and your dinner and the entertainment in The Speakeasy. We love hearing that you braved the chilly weather for an afternoon walk on the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway. In addition to being a great place for a walk, the Greenway is also a great place in town for bird-watching, fishing and bicycling. We are thrilled that you enjoyed both your dinner and Sunday Brunch in Circa '31.

Thank you again for returning to The Mimslyn and for sharing your positive experience with others on TripAdvisor. Please be sure to visit our website and sign up for our email updates so we can keep you up-to-date on our specials throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

With kids sports dominating most of our weekends I was looking for a quick get away spot that would have us back home to NOVA by mid day Saturday. I booked one of the suites and was very satisfied with the room and hotel. The restaurant was as nice as any 4 star restaurant in DC and I loved that the restaurant had a corkage fee of only $5.00! I am so tired ridicules corkage fees and this allowed us to bring in a very nice bottle to complement a very good dinner. My wife and I recently stayed at the Homestead and felt like we were nickeled and dimmed for every move we made. I would recommend the Mimslyn Inn over the Homestead hands down. Looking forward to coming back in the spring and summer with the kids and exploring the activities around Luray. Great close in get away for anyone in the DC area. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you for the fantastic review of your recent stay at The Mimslyn Inn! We understand how busy life can be...and we absolutely love being able to provide a convenient getaway location for folks in the Washington DC metro area.

Thank you so much for the very nice compliments about your dining experience. There are many wonderful restaurants in DC....we are so honored that you consider Circa '31 on par with those establishments. Our chef and his team are dedicated to providing a quality dining experience that features fresh, local ingredients. We love giving our guests the opportunity to experience the custom pairings of Virginia wines with dinner or the option of bringing in their favorite wine for a reasonable corkage fee.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again this spring and summer to explore Luray Caverns and all of the other great activities in and around Luray. Thank you again for taking the time to share your positive experience with others on TripAdvisor!
