“Great Place for Outdoor Fun!”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This past weekend, I went tent camping with some friends at Shenandoah River Outfitters. It is a very accommodating campground with wooded camp sites, and a bathhouse/bathrooms that are close to all sites. We planned to experience the lazy river but the trip was canceled due to excessively high and fast water. Next time!!! The fees charged for camping and the tubing were very reasonable.

“Offers multiple forms of floatation fun....”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

SRC offers all sorts options from kayaks, canoes, rafts and tubing with varied length of times and parts of the river where they will transport you and your equipment to. We did the 8 mile Kayak ( 3-4 hours) on the more peaceful portion of the river and it was a very enjoyable experience and one of the highlights of the trip.
Pros: Staff courteous and explained the different options of the river well (from mellow to class 2 rapids) to get the most enjoyable experience.
Cons: Summer weekends and holiday weekends can get busy, s definitely recommend either stopping in to reserve equipment the day prior or calling ahead/online if possible. We were lucky to happen upon the place the day prior and reserved (4th of Jul weekend) our Kayaks. The staff gave us the head's up to come in before 10am on the day of our trip to avoid the masses, and good thing we did! Upon our return from the trip, all of the kayaks and the majority of the equipment was rented out. On the river however, it was not jam packed crowded, a few people here and there with great scenery. some parts did get very shallow (kayak dragged on the rocks), so I was thankful that I did not decide to tube on that portion of the river :). I would definitely return for another river trip in the future.

“Float trip”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We enjoyed a hot, sunny day lazily floating up the Shenandoah. (Yes, this river flows north.) We rented a cooler tube and had lunch on the riverbank. It was hard to find a convenient location to get out of the river to eat. Even though it was a holiday weekend, the river didn't feel busy or crowded. The business ran efficiently getting checked-in and getting to the water. My 7 and 9 year old granddaughters loved the experience. This is our 2nd trip. When the weather cooperates, it's the place to be in the summer. p.s. The water is clean.

“Tube the Shenandoah River for a GREAT time!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

The check in process was a mess as was the information prior to getting on the river, but how hard is it to sit on a tube. The float was spectacular and should not be missed if you are in the area. I used the tube but would think the canoe, or kayak would be almost as much fun. The river water was perfect cool as to be refreshing but not cold as to startle you. As unorganized as the company was the trip was so worth it. Make your reservation before you arrive, the tube float leaves at all times during the day so getting their prior to your time will get you on the river when you arrive if you decide to get their early.

“Great experience!”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

First time in the Shenandoah river, but n I t in whitewater experience. Rented a canoe with my husband and 7 year old girl. The staff is great, however they don't seemed take special attention to safety. After you pay they tell you what to fo and you kinda do it yourself without any help. You take your own paddle, get your own life vest, and run around to look for somebody to help you or answer you question. Then they let you watch a safety video which they told us is up to us if we want to watch it. The white water canoeing experience qas freat though.
