“Great Place for a Family Reunion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2010

During July 2010, over 50 of us from 4 states, stayed 5 nights at the Sierra
Lodge while celebrating our family reunion. The accommodations were just
perfect for our group. Each room had a mini refrigerator and either 2
double beds or 1 king. The ground-floor conference room with adjoining
kitchen (equipped with pots/pans, etc.) provided a great place for gathering
for meals. For an additional fee, the most gracious owners, Dave and Carol
Paradis, arranged for rental of enough tables and chairs to accommodate us.
A sitting room off the conference room with a TV was a perfect place for
elderly family members to relax, catch up and have coffee. Family members
with small children had the option of renting small suites with
kitchenettes.

A large outside sitting area with several picnic tables was a great place to
gather in the cool evenings. It was a perfect spot to hold the children's
talent show. Of course, everyone enjoyed the swimming pool whether swimming
or just sitting around enjoying a beverage of their choice.

During the day, adventure was found visiting the sequoias, white water
rafting, cave exploration, swimming at the nearby lake, fishing or playing
in the river.

The Sierra Lodge was a perfect place to stay during our fun-filled
vacation/reunion.

Fairly clean, but overpriced for what you are getting. Only stayed for one night and not memorable one at that. the air conditioning was inadequate for the room size. One rusty refrigerator, should be thrown out. Most other friends stayed at the Comfort Inn down the street, nicer room and half the price.

the only good thing about this hotel was the location!! the pool is small, unheated and somewhat dirty. The view from the patio is the parking lot.The free wi fi is unprotected but it does't matter because it doesn't connect to internet. If you want to use the "picnic" area, you have to clean ti yourself. The only way you know there's a river is because you can here it when there aren't any cars!! this was the low point in an otherwise perfect holiday.

Not really sure what to say here except the location was right and the rooms were shabby but clean enough. The Yogi the Bear painting on the white concrete-block walls and the half-lighted reindeer on the roof were our first clue that this was not exactly the Wilderness Lodge at Disney World, as I had hoped. But at the same time, we were grateful we did not try to drive up to Waksuchi Lodge, inside Sequoia National Park. That drive is full of hairpin turns up the side of the mountain, and in the dark would have been long (at least an hour-and-a-half), scary and even dangerous for those who don't know the roads there. The staff was friendly tho the office doesn't open until 9 am. If I had it to do over again I would probably have stayed at the Comfort Inn but it was booked due to a Hell's Angels convention. The stay was definitely worth it to see the big trees and the black bear that was lumbering down the mountain toward us as we photographed a waterfall.

Wouldn't want to have been spending more than one night. Nothing terrible about the place but little to recommend it. Lady on reception was nice, and helpfully pointed us to a good swimming spot (you can't easily get to the river from the road in three rivers as most of the adjoined land is private). Room had a good view (mountains) and a bad one (electricity transformer). It was small; there was less than a foot between my side of the bed and the wall; suitcases took up scarce floor space. The bed was small and not very comfortable.

The picture I'm painting isn't great but.... None of it bothered us too much, we went out and had fun, were only there for one night and had chosen this cheaper place so we could splash out elsewhere. There was nothing terrible just nothing great and lots of smallish irritations.

I wouldn't choose to stay again but I wouldn't be upset if had to.

We stayed in a suite. The room itself was comfy, clean with a small kitchen. HOWEVER, the fridge was not working properly (not cold enough), the air-conditioning was not enough for the whole room. We were there in July, so it was HOT even in the evening. We also had the ant problem, so you can't leave ANY food out. When we complained to the manager, he warned us that ants even come from outside into the room. We were terrified and didn't want to leave any trash in the room. So we took out the trash ourselves to a garbage can outside. Interestingly, the next day when I took out more trash, I expected to see lots of ants coming in and out of the garbage can, but there were no ants? So maybe the ants didn't come from outside but rather from inside? We tried the spray as well but that didn't help. The ants were out there attacking our food still the next day.
The complimentary breakfast was just some pastry offered in the morning in the lobby. Don't expect too much.
Overall, I think this hotel is at a nice location and if they can improve on these things, it would be a great place to stay. But I would not recommend it in its current condition.

My friends and I made reservations thru Hotels.com. We arrived, and thru an error on Hotels.com's part we lost our reservations. When we arrived they were completely filled, but David and his staff worked to get us rooms elsewhere, making sure we received refunds, following thru even after we returned home. Other friends stayed at the Three Rivers, and we all agree that anytime we stay in Three Rivers, the Sierra Lodge is the place we'll stay always.
