Holiday Inn Express Saugus (Logan Airport)

We came out from the UK to see "New England in the Fall".

We stayed for one week last month, before we went we read some of the comments and felt very unsure what to expect, but we were very pleased with the room which was large and non smoking as requested, with two double beds & a microwave and fridge as requested. The staff were very helpful and there is an excellent shuttle sevice to and from Boston, and the airport. The breakfast was great, cereal, bagels, toast, waffles, muffins, fruit, tea coffee and juices, what more could you want ?
We can honestly say it was a good week and we are so pleased we didn't take notice of the comments of some people and perhaps cancelled.

We visited Boston on Memorial Day weekend. We've been in better hotels before, but we were satisfied. The rooms are clean. The only bad thing is that there is a smokey smell throughout the building, like cigarettes. Their transportation sysytem is very convenient. They pick you up at the airport. There's also service to the subway, so you really don't need to rent a vehicle. Just make sure you walk with their phone number because you'll need it when you need to get back to the hotel from the train station.
Overall, it's was worth the money. I forgot to mention, they serve free breakfast: coffee bagels, toast. pancakes, etc....

Overall this hotel is bad. It is not that close to the airport. It seems close when you look up under Logan airport on Expedia or Travelocity but it is not. They do have an airport shuttle but I heard it usually takes forever for them to pick you up and gets full when you need to take it to the airport. The room was non-smoking but it had such a bad perfume smell that we think they were trying to cover up the "smoke" in the room. The back door to the hotel was supposed to be locked and you could only get in with the room key but unfortunately it was broken. We didn't feel too safe here. The price was okay ($109) and that's why we stayed there but we kept our car because we didn't want to deal with the shuttle in the morning for our flight. I recommend staying somewhere else if you can!

they offered only smokey room (though we had booked non-smoking); air conditioning did not work at all (so room temp. was in 77 degree range); noisy throughout the night; $35 cab ride from Logan Airport . . . avoid this hotel if possible.

This "hotel" is absolutely disgusting! We checked in on 12/8/05, it was 35 degrees F outside and our room was about 20 degrees F! I called the front desk and they said it would take about 1/2 hour for the room to heat up, which it never did. The room itself was gross. Very outdated and unclean, smelling very badly.
We had to change rooms to one that the heater worked but it was not any better. We finally had to go down to the front desk and get extra blankets. No service since the girl at the desk was the ONLY employee on duty. We felt very unsafe here. We left our car there and took the shuttle to the airport the next day, which was fine. Upon our return 4 days later, we called for the shuttle and waited an hour for it to arrive. The day we checked in there was a "seedy character" hanging around the lobby, and he was there again 4 days later when we came back for our car! There is more going on in that hotel than accomodating travelers. Don't stay there!

We stayed at the Days Inn on July 8, 2005 on our way to Ireland. Although it was really a long way from the airport, the price was good and the service was excellent. My son went to sleep with the chain on and they broke the lock to be sure he was okay. They also provided good information on an emergency care center that was open on Saturday. It was within walking distance of a Friendly's restaurant. They did provide transportation from the airport but our plane was late and we missed the last pickup at 11:00 pm.

Had a cancelled transcon flight due to the inbound plane diverted for weather, so the airline gave me a brochure for disrupted travellers, boasting discounted rates for their preferred hotels in the network, so I figured this was the best option seeing I would be in boston overnight. Well, this is not boston, it is the north Shore region, and it took 25 minutes to get to the hotel on a Saturday night at 7 PM. They only had one van running. I walked to the hilltop Steakhouse and got some good eats, and then returned to get some sleep. there was trash in the elevator floor, and stale cigarette odor on the nonsmoking floor. however, the shuttle only took about 10 minutes to get to the airport at 6 AM on a Sunday and I made it fine. I guess the lesson learned is that it pays to investigate the properties a little more. the desk staff was friendly, but I should've just done priceline or hotwire for a 4 star airport hotel at $89 and would've gotten a reputable Hilton/marriot/doubletree type place. Logan now has internet access if you travel with a laptop. The room was dated and had wallpaper peeling around exposed sink pipe. not terrible, but when stranded, go with a consistent service provider.
