We stayed at the Maple Shade for two nights during our son's rowing races on the lake. It was a busy weekend, but our time at the Maple Shade made it restful, restorative and fun. The B&B is meticulously maintained. Instead of the "ye oldey" creeps I sometimes get at B&Bs, this was luxury interpreted in fine furnishings, bedding and decor. The hosts were perfect. Though we didn't have a chance to get to know them as well as we liked due to our schedule, they were lovely and had that all-important trait of being there when you wanted them.
The B&B is 15 minutes out of Saratoga but a world away. It is very rural and beautiful. For us, a short walk was more restorative than a visit to the spa. The location was also perfect because we avoided horrendous traffic jams coming from the Saratoga Springs/87 side of the lake. You approach the lake from the other direction coming from the Maple Shade and there are no traffic concerns.
