Thanks Tom and Jo Ann for a beautiful stay. Everything was perfect and that doesn't just happen. The breakfasts surpassed any I have had including buffets. The rooms are quaint but completely modern-air,fireplace, shower, jet tub, kitchenette, TV etc, Thanks

My husband and I are B&B veterans, and Mapleshade ranks at the top of our list! We would definitely return and have already recommended it to colleagues. The owners have done an amazing job renovating the home which has all amenities, including central A/C, flat screen televisions, and lots of automatic fireplaces. The B&B is impeccably clean. Joanne and Tom, the hosts, are wonderful people and you will love the breakfasts and the "snack nook" off the main dining area.

This place is fantastic. Looks like new. Beautiful inside and out. Great views from porch. Owners are extremely accomodating and friendly but give you plenty of privacy and space. Central AC. Big breakfast. Fresh OJ, fruit, muffins, omelet and more. Minutes from downtown and track. I can't say enough about this place.

It's too bad this B&B is somewhat hidden away in the outer Saratoga Springs area, because it is a true undiscovered gem. We've stayed in dozens of B&Bs, and I've rarely if ever been to one where there was so much attention to detail and to offering an experience as close to perfection as possible. The decor, the food, the graciousness of the host and hostess -- nothing could be faulted. They clearly really care about their guests having a good experience.

It's also a great combination of attentiveness and privacy, because the few guest rooms have half of the beautifully restored old house to themselves. But the owners are just a knock on the door away in their half of the house if you need help, advice, or anything else at all.

Because I never in my reviews say anything is absolutely perfect, I will mention that the bedrooms are a little on the small side. But they're comfortable and nicely decorated for the space that's available.

We were only able to spend 24 hours at Maple Shade, but we hope to return. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a lovely stay in the countryside.

Seven of us took four of Maple Shade's bedrooms for our annual family summer get-together, and we couldn't have been more relaxed or comfortable. Although it's somewhat remote, it's well worth the detour. The Malatestas have preserved the rustic charm of a traditional farm house, but renovated it to include all the self-indulgent luxuries of a fine hotel. There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the rolling pastures, including a wrap-around porch. We were invited to make ourselves at home, right down to moving the lawn furniture around so we could picnic in the shade. Dieters, beware, though: the breakfasts are generous, multi-course, and irresistible. Home-made, fruit-laden muffins are followed by a hot main course, with a "dessert" such as apple or crumb coffee cake to finish you off. We rarely had an appetite for lunch. A small, self-service kitchen is open all day, with the breakfast leftovers easily available, coffee or tea brewed by the individual cup, and a fridge stocked with juices and water. In a tourist area where prices are high during the racing season, Maple Shade gives very good value for the money.

We're so happy that we found this beautiful Bed & Breakfast. It was a wonderful place to stay; we wish we could have spent several more days. The house was obviously restored with much love and care; it's a gorgeous place. There are several beautifully decorated common rooms and dining areas. Our room (Blue Room) was lovely, with a comfy bed and a fireplace. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside. Tom, the host, was just terrific. He was extremely friendly and gracious, and he also outdid himself with the first class breakfast. Staying at Maple Shade was one of the highlights of our trip!
