This is a nice place if you need to stay over in Thousand Oaks, CA. It's a minute from the freeway (Moorpark exit off the 101) but far enough away so you don't hear it and it's clean and the breakfast wasn't bad (waffles, toast, bagels, cereal, hard boiled eggs, lowfat and reg. milk, juice, apples, etc). Nearby are restaurants and across the street is a Sears that had few customers on July 4. What's that about?
The bill for a king-sized bed was $84 inc. taxes using the AARP so the price was right.
The only complaint was that on July 1, the Board of Health shut down the pool. It looked clean and the front manager told us that the reason it was shut down was that there weren't enough signs posted such as "no lifeguard on duty." Huh? That sounded kind fishy (no pun intended) but my wife and I weren't going to test the waters to see what would happen. It would have been nice to have had Quality Inn:
1: Mention this stuff on the Inn's website.
2. Give us a discount. We asked for one but were denied. Hey this was a selling point. We could have gone to the Best Western closer to the freeway. We were told that we already had a discount with out AARP card. Sure but that discount was based on a working pool. In July, you want to be able to go swimming, especially when it's almost 90 degrees outside.
In closing, go for it but if it's hot, make sure the pool is working.
