Beautiful restaurant setting in La Fonda Hotel near the plaza area of Santa Fe. The restaurant serves wonderfully prepared lunches. The cerviche appetizer was delicious as was the tortilla soup with chicken. Two others at my table had the Kit Carson burgers and they raved about it. Service was spot on.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience in our restaurant, La Plazuela. Chef Lane Warner serves up excellent cuisine and makes a point to switch out the menu seasonally. I hope that you have the opportunity to sample our fall menu, set to launch in the very near future!

A beautiful, back in time hotel, we will always remember the La Fonda and all it's ambiance. We are long time, Santa Fe residents. Need we say more. So lovely, located on the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Our room was a suite, we were able to have guests join us for a glass of champagne after a stroll around town and tapas at at the St. Francis Hotel.

Room Tip: Every room is fabulous!

II wandered in looking for a restroom and stayed for half an hour absorbing the ambience of the true spirit of Santa Fe. The tile work in the first floor restrooms is amazing. It is beautiful. The wood work in the halls and lobby are to be admired. The little shops are tucked into nooks and crannies and provide unique quality items. No one minds if you wander about. The feeling of times past makes you want to stay and sample the delicious food. i know, because I asked some diners!!

I have always wanted to stay at La Fonda, right beside the cathedral on the plaza in Santa Fe. We were delighted to find a very good offer which cost us less than staying way down Cerrillos Road where we usually stay.
Our room was large and comfortable and we were really pleased with the Mexican decor. It gave a real sense of being in Santa Fe. The staff were very helpful and even helped us find a bank which would cash our stock of travellers' cheques when we found it difficult to spend them in shops and restaurants.
We ate breakfast at the French Pastry Shop where we had the most delicious croissants we have ever eaten outside France. We also had dinner one evening in La Plazuela restaurant in the hotel. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
The whole ambiance of the hotel was just right for it's location and we would have no hesitation in booking there again. There is a charge for using the carpark but then we were right in the centre of Santa Fe where everything is happening so we didn't mind.

La Fonda

I spent three nights in a one bedroom suite, room 274. My wife and I were traveling with my 15 year-old son. The suite bested my expect ions: it was larger than I hoped and even had a fireplace. There was also a kitchen nook that I didn't really need on this trip, but was handy. The bathroom had two sinks, a great concept. There was also a good-sized closet. Really, I can't think of a negative thing.

One note: the sign in the parking garage says there is a $30 max daily charge. However, this is a public rate: hotel guests are charged less.

Everything was perfect during our stay. The hotel is authentic New Mexico in the heart of Santa Fe with superb service. We had a fantastic breakfast in La Plazuela with family, and the staff was more than accommodating to our 2-year-old grandson. The Plaza is right out the front door of the hotel so the location could not be better.

Room Tip: We upgraded our room to The Terrace and found it an excellent value.

I feel somewhat mixed about this hotel. The public spaces are indeed quite beautiful with much character and charm. Allthough the hotel is old, it appears to be well kept. At least that applies to the public areas. The rooms are a bit different though. Also nicely decorated (subject to taste of course) and clean, the bathroom was very small and outdated. It probably was clean, but did not particularly look so. With broken floor tiles, discolered caulking and a chipped and spotty tub it somewhat had the feel of a dinky roadside motel. We stayed for one night only at a decent rate ($100). If there are updated rooms they may be worth more, but otherwise I wouldn't choose to stay here for the regular rates.

The public areas (Lobby, hallways and shops with access from within the hotel) were very busy and crowded on the Friday night we were there. I seems a lot of people walk in off the street to sight-see and shop. Our room was on the mainfloor facing the tiny inner courtyard with a small pool, so it was very quiet during the night. But I can see that closer to the lounge or meeting rooms it could be quite noisy. This hotel may be well suited for the more social personalities. For those looking for a relaxed quiet stay it may be a bit hectic.

We ate at the Fiesta lounge and food and service was good. Oh, and the king bed was excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your experience with us. A historic landmark, La Fonda on the Plaza definitely stirs the interest of visitors to Santa Fe. Locals and tourists alike often frequent our public spaces, because of their unique character and charm. I’m glad that you enjoyed them.
We take cleanliness very seriously, so much so that I am confident in saying that the bathroom in your accommodation was sufficiently detailed and cleaned prior to your arrival. I do understand your frustration with the chipped tiles and the discolored caulking. Our maintenance department tries to ensure that these details do not get overlooked. I apologize for the oversight in this case.
La Fonda on the Plaza is about to begin a significant guest room renovation inJanuary 2013. Our renovated guestrooms will meet modern standards of comfort without sacrificing our historic authenticity and charm – I sincerely hope that you will have the opportunity to experience the remodeled rooms, firsthand. I’m confident that you will be impressed.
