We chose this place because we wanted a kitchen in our room and plenty of room for our baby. My wife was very skeptical because of the mixed reviews. She wanted to stay at the Residence Inn but I didn't want to spend the extra $40 per night. When we arrived, the first disappointment for me was that the check-in area is a tiny room with no decor, and a single computer for guest use. I was hoping this wasn't their idea of "Internet Available in the Lobby."
My first goal was to be really nice to the lady at the front desk to make sure I got a nice room. I had reserved a One-Bedroom, but they had me listed in a Two-Bedroom. I asked what rate they were charging and it was actually $10 less per night. GREAT!! She offered to let me see a couple rooms before checking me in. The first room was a one-bedroom (Unit #80). We went in and were very disappointed. The carpet was old and commercial-grade. The bed was hard. The kitchen was tiny and dark. Not very comfortable.
The next room we looked at was the one they had actually picked for us, the two-bedroom townhouse (Unit #24). Upon entering, we were impressed. It had relatively new carpet and furniture including a leather chair. Our room had a LCD 20" television with cable, and even had it's own high-speed internet with wireless router. The king-size bed was decent, but not plush, and there was another television in the bedroom that's color was way off. Basically, we really enjoyed our room. Our guest came over and was surprised at how nice it was for the price. Our baby had plenty of room to play and we didn't have any problems with a dirty floor or furniture. We didn't go in to unit #21 but it looked even better than ours through the windows.
The breakfast was terrible. Their paperwork lists waffles. When we got there they had two waffle makers but the staff (no habla English) had no clue about waffles. There was no juice. Had a dispenser but it was empty. So breakfast was coffee, plain bagels with no cream cheese, and choice of three Malt-O-Meal cereals. Another guest told us the front desk said they were under new management and had cut back on the breakfast. But since we were saving $50 per day by staying there, we just went out for breakfast. That night we went out and bought groceries for breakfast.
What I learned:
1. Each unit is individually-owned. You might get a horrible unit or a great one.
2. Be nice to the staff initially and you might have a better chance at a great room.
3. Don't count on breakfast, buy your own.
4. The staff is not helpful. Best bet is to think of this stay as "you are on your own."
5. The pictures online are not current photos or are from select units.
