“OK but not a resort”
Reviewed July 3, 2007

The lodge is adequate, but has zero amenities. It has not been remodeled in sometime - if the carpets are any indication. The restaurant is open for breakfast, but other than that, apparently only at their whim. I found this very annoying and when inquiring about places that might deliver food to the Hotel they could only offer pizza -I am certain there are probably other options, but they haven't bothered to find out. There is only one ice machine in the whole place, as they haven't gotten around to replacing a broken one. The staff are mostly nice, but all seem to be very young. Not the sort who would have the experience to really provide stellar service. The grounds are pretty, and the pool area is very nice. The location is not bad, but it's not walking distance to anything. You have to take a shuttle in to town - their shuttle driver Manuel is a doll.. If you want a resort experience, the lodge is not for you. If you want a reasonably nice roof over your head, you'll be fine.

Hotel staff was superb, friendly and accommodating with excellelnt service. Beautiful location and close to all attractions. Suites are spacious and clean with outside balcony. Caution: Do Not book thru Hotels.com. A better rate and service is achieved by booking directly with the Lodge.

like others I was concerned with reviews. I noted its location on our last visit and decided to give it a try. It makes a 3 star. big rooms, clean south west decor. great views ask for east or south facing. I could see if you got put in the back lower floor it wouldn't be as nice but we were right by the fitness center and it had beautiful flowers with a view out the window, no screen though. very quite. We were here three days and would come again.

The Lodge at Santa Fe is a 3 star poperty. A very welcoming front desk staff (Prissi is a doll!), a clean room with some local touches, and nice views are all a big plus. The somehow rundown overall impression did not bother me since cleanliness is granted and maintenance has been done consistantly. However the restaurant. needs an upgrade. We took breakfast at the hotels restaurant and were very surprised with the food quality. Check out went smooth. Personalised service one expect to be given in 5 star resorts but rarely given, is a wonderfull touch one receive in the Lodge at Santa Fe certainly due to its staff. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

Absolutely Beautiful Hotel
The Lodge at Santa Fe
March, 2007
Me and my family visited Santa Fe to get away for a couple of days, we visited the plaza and had a great time. After a busy day walking around, it was nice to come back to our rooms to relax and enjoy some quiet time. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. Our children wanted to take a dip in the pool, but it closed and much too cold. Instead they went into the hot tub and still had a great time. The front office was very welcoming when we came and very helpful during our stay. Overall our visit was very pleasant and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again, and we have recommended the hotel to several of our friends.

From the initial phone contact I should have known better then to book at this property. When we arrived the front desk attendees were talking with someone (who appeared to be another employee) about how "...bad this place sucks" and snickering about other guests as they walked by. I heard all of this sitting on the couch waiting for my kids. Unbelievable, that they would talk like that when I was only a few feet away. The rooms were OK at best. Although, the sheets were stained and not fitted, they would come loose all night. My son also "found" dirty socks under his bed! The food and service in the restaurant was by far the worst I have ever had anywhere.
Other than the views, there is absolutely nothing, and I mean NOTHING, this hotel has to offer. Do yourself a favor and book at a Holiday Inn or consider a little more money for another hotel on the plaza, don't ruin your vacation by staying at the lodge. DODGE THE LODGE!

This was absolutely not a three star hotel. The first thing my 14 year old said when we walked into the main lobby was, "Mom this hotel smells like grandma's nursing home". The nursing home smells horrible by the way. So we check in and go to our room. The smell in the room was sickening so we immediately checked out and had to request a refund from Expedia that will take 5 days. I didn't care that I had to wait because there was no way I was staying at this hotel. We found a phone book and found a Holiday Inn instead and were totally happy. My recommendation is not to stay at The Lodge of Santa Fe or be prepared not to have an enjoyable experience.

  • Liked — Nothing because we left.
  • Disliked — The horrible nursing home smell.
