“Don't be fooled by the Pics!”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

I booked this hotel through our points with RCI and picked it based on the star rating (which was either a 3 or 4) that RCI told me and the picture/descriptions on the hotel website. I have to say I was very disappointed upon arrival. If you are looking for a very basic hotel with few amenities, it is fine and overall clean. But I was expecting more than the basics. The only rooms with microwaves or refrigerators are the King Suites, which did not work for our group of 3 people. We only got one wash cloth and one hand towel the first day and none the second, which then required two phone calls, a trip to the front desk and more than 2 hours to fix. The bathroom and the room itself are both very dark and it was next to impossible to do things like shave your legs or put on make-up. We tried out the hot tub two nights, the first it was hot and relaxing, the second night it was barely lukewarm. The beds and furniture where not comfortable and the TV was from the dark ages. I am used to hotels have information about the services they offer, a channel guide and often information on the activities in the surrounding area…you get none of that here! The view from the restaurant is great, the grounds are nice, but overall this was a very basic hotel with few amenities and less than stellar service.

Stayed at the Lodge for a conference. Travelled with a friend. We requestedn a room with two double beds but got stuck with a king and a sofa bed. After 5 nights on the sofa bed I am in need of a massage. Room is clean but dark as a tomb. Looks out to a parking lot. Towels are a daily challenge. As is coffee for the in room coffee maker. Sometimes the room is not made up until after 4:00 p.m. Restaurant is terrible. Think Taco Bell at 4 times the price. Staff is friendly but the service is incompetent,

This place has changed! Believe it or not they have actually managed not to change for the better. They have had at least three different restaurants occupy their restaurant space in the past five years. Each very similar to its predecessor but none worthy of any sort of praise. Not to mention the constant turnover of management in each of these restaurant models. The hotel itself is nice and has once had a better reputation, it does need some cosmetic help, but they definately need major help from some experts in the restaurant world.

Partner and I stayed at the Lodge in Santa Fe while traveling with Road Scholar on a trip that took us to Santa Fe. Road Scholar uses middle-of-the-road accommodations and the Lodge was typical. Reasonably clean rooms and public areas, but nothing exceptional. No flat-screen TVs, and the furniture is "rustic" at best (with old west decor, minimal storage, some drawers that were stuck and difficult to open). Clean but somewhat shabby carpets and bathroom with a "log ladder" to hang towels! Lighting could be better - usual 60 watt bulbs in all lamps. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and helpful.

This was a great place to stay while we were exploring Santa Fe. The facility is beautiful, with wonderful Southwestern decorations. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. They have a shuttle to the old town area, which was very handy for us. The facility is only minutes from downtown, but sometimes it is nice to have someone else drive. The beds were great, everything was lovely, clean and comfortable. We liked it so much, we extended our stay.

I was here last week for and professional conference and the hotel was very clean, attractive, and bright. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They were constantly making sure that we had enough coffee, water, food, etc. Very professional. The views of the mountains are very beautiful too. Since I live in Santa Fe, I did not stay in one of the rooms at the Lodge. Yet I heard from other attendees that the rooms were very clean, comfortable, and stylish.

Room Tip: didn't stay the night
