“Check out your room first”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

As other reviewers have said, the location of this B&B is excellent. The rooms are located in a variety of buildings and mostly have the feel of private cottages with stone walkways and courtyards. And yes, the breakfasts are all you could wish for both cold buffet style and omelets or waffles cooked to order. Don't miss the homemade muffins! We were traveling with two other couples and so were able to check out three different rooms. They each varied considerably. Unfortunately, ours was the least desirable of the three, feeling cramped and dingy decorating. This particular room obviously needs some updating. There were several inconvenient factors, including lack of a dressing mirror -- the only mirror being a small over-the-sink style too high for a 5'2" woman -- and lack of enough bedside reading light, no shelves or drawers in the bathroom, only small sink countertop. Our room did have good and quiet central air. Our room was directly on the sidewalk/street, which in itself was not a problem, but only one of the windows had a privacy screen. The WiFi was very sporadic and slow. My caution would be to check out your assigned room before accepting it. I would certainly return to Las Palomas, but would be more careful about which room I was in.

To summarize the accomodation, our room was adequate, though not spacious. We had everything we needed and lived in comfort, including evenings in our little private courtyard. The most important feature of the hotel was the enthusiastic reception from all of the employees whenever there was any question needing an answer or a service to be requested. They were able to recommdend good restaurants, and assist in obtaining shuttle services for anywhere we needed to go. Our highest praise, therefore, goes to the staff of the hotel.

Due to unforeseen changes, my fiancee, who was flying in from Japan, had to check in early, before I arrived. I called and they happily accommodated us, allowing her to check in at 11:00 am.
This they did at no extra charge, and they left us a bottle of wine on the table to boot!

Then, the next day, my fiancee became super ill and I was away in Las Vegas at a conference. They let us check out at 5:00 pm and only charged us an extra 25.00. Then, while leaving the hotel my truck broke down, and after having done so much, they came out and helped push start my truck! Simply amazing.

Hats off to these fine folk. Best lodging experience I've ever had.

My wife and I were disappointed when we discovered that the hotel where we stayed in 2012 was booked so we booked Las Palomas blind and are we happy that we did! It is a small cozy property spread out over several original adobe buildings in the old Barrio section adjacent to downtown. We arrived late after 11 pm and the reception was closed, but instructions given were easily followed and we were in our room within minutes. The room was not super luxurious, but very comfortable and had a great patio outside with sun-chairs and umbrellas.
Included in the price was a wonderful breakfast with an excellent Continental option but also fresh eggs any way and the absolute best Cappuccinos in town!
What really impressed us was the wonderful staff. The two receptionists were so helpful and kind and the Cappuccino maker deserves a raise!
If you want an authentic New Mexico stay in over-priced Santa Fe you could not do better than Las Palomas!
We'll definitely be back next year.

My husband and I have stayed at Las Palomas at least three times -always in the Spring or Fall when the rates are wonderfully low. We love the cozy fireplace suites with kitchenettes as we travel with a cooler. Location is the perfect short walk to Center. Staff is warm and friendly. Front desk has warm chocolate chip cookies every day. The extensive full breakfast is superb. Washer and dryer are helpful to dusty hikers with workout room next door. We will stay again soon.

Room Tip: Please note that there's no room service but I couldn't erase the above rating. We always ha...

Large fun suite in a convenient part of town. Excellent shuttle service which will take you and pick up within Santa Fe until 10pm.. Nearby piano bar isVannesse. Which was fun. Also 2For Dinner was good but overpriced and we felt its reputation wasn't deserved.

Room Tip: Sprawl of buildings. Ours was the Pueblo, all seemed good.

This is the second year that I've stayed at Las Palomas during Indian Market, and I'll continue to stay there. Like virtually all the Plaza-area hotels, there is a 3-night minimum during Market, but they don't gouge on the nightly rate. They have a "continental" breakfast, but that includes made-to-order omelets and waffles. Since I'm standing in line at my favorite artist's booth by 5 a.m. on the opening Saturday -- I really appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave in my room to make my own breakfast. If you're the picky type -- my room this year needed some touch-up painting, but the king-size bed was extremely comfortable.
