“Stay was a real treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2009

Our stay in the Santa Fe Hilton was a real treat. We've booked a king room, but upon arrival we've got an upgrade to a suite. In the room we''ve found a nice suprise. A bottle of Italian red, cheese, fruits and crackers. the suite was quite large, wit a seperate livingroom with a fridge, tea/coffeemaker and large flatscreen. Bathroom was welle equipped but not that large. The bedding was superb. Hotel had a nice swimmingpool in the innern courtyard with a seperate sittingarea with an open fire.
Personel was friendly and professional.
The Hilton has a great location, just two blocks from the city center, with more than enough parkingspace. This hotel deserves, in my opinion, a higher ranking. The only thing that annoyed me where the pigeons. They woke us earlier tah we wanted.

First know that this 2 night stay was gratis using my Hilton Points. Upon arrival, we received an upgrade to the 2 bedroom Casita. This of course made my wife and two teenage daughters ecstatic.

The Casita is actually located in the old carraige house of the Ortiz Mansion. They have cleverly left a portion of the original mud wall visible through a framed window in the sitting room. Very cool.

The main room of the Casita features a couch, lounge chair, two sitting chairs, a gas fireplace, and a large, flat screen HD TV on one end and a small kitchen (microwave, sink, toaster, coffee maker, mini fridge, and dining counter) on the other end.

Each bedroom featured a king bed with lots of pillows, a huge closet complete with shelves and robes, and a large, flat screen HD TV. In addition, each had their own bathroom and vanities which were then connected together by the jaccuzi tub and seperate tiled shower which was big enough to fit at least six adults!

Outdoor pool and hot tub was very nice. Situated in the middle of the regular hotel rooms, the large area also featured a very large outdoor gas fireplace with lots of sitting room around for many guests.

This was a great two night stay for us and we would definately return.

Have now stayed in this hotel twice. Rooms, though ordinarily furnished, are spacious and clean. Bathroom a little small, but navigable. Breakfast buffet rather ordinary, as is the restaurant. I would not eat there when so many other options are within a short walking distance. Large pool in the middle of the inner courtyard. Hotel is right on the edge of the downtown shopping area, just a few blocks from the plaza -- excellent location for getting in and out of town or to other places in Santa Fe. Quiet neighborhood. Attentive staff. Be sure to join the Hilton Hhonors program before you go to get discounted parking ($7.50 vs $15.00)

The location of this place can not be beat. However, considering the price of the room, I found the accommodations rather ordinary and the service lacking, and at times, downright rude. The pool was clean but it's surroundings were not attractive. Plus you just sit and overlook the hotel rooms. The chairs were nice but there weren't any towels readily available and it didn't seem to get much attention by the staff. Leftover towels and to-go boxes sat out all day.

As for the service, we used the concierge several times and they gave great recommendations. But asking for a fire to be lit by the pool at 9pm on a Friday was served with a quite rude NO!

The lobby was pretty and served chilled flavored water and chips & salsa mid-day. However, there wasn't much a place (other than right in the front lobby) to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Otherwise, the hotel was light on amenitites as well.

If you don't plan to spend anytime in the room or environs, this hotel was acceptable.

we did read a bunch of negative reviews of this hotel.. but we decided to stay here anyways, because of the location and the pricing wasn't all that bad.

we got there in the afternoon.. the check-in was quick.. got a pretty good room, parking was easy (but were charged 15 bucks).. there is another parking lot a block or so away for half the price if you need a bargain.. room was big, very very clean, well furnished, all the modern stuff; if i really have to complain, i would say wifi could be free.. but i could live without it for a day or goto the business center for the free wifi or just pay..

practically everything you need to see/do in Santa Fe (old town) is literally steps away and a few places are couple of blocks away.. that includes tons of restaurants, shops, bars, the plaza, church, museums, chapel..

the checkout was a breeze, they let us park our car for rest of the day for free, they agreed to store our luggage in the hotel for free since we were leaving the town in the evening... and that was a nice touch on their part.

will i stay there again? absolutely...

We wanted to stay close to downtown while in Santa Fe. Another famous inn and spa was highly recommended but I nearly choked at the $350+ per night price tag. The AAA rate for a king room was around $150- much more in line with my budget. Our room was exceptionally clean, spacious and well appointed. The hotel is older and it does have a certain charm, but you really miss the electrical outlets and larger bathrooms that the newer hotels have. One of my gripes about Hilton is that you have to pay for everything extra - internet access, parking, breakfast...Hilton Honors members may receive reduced/free parking or other perks which may mean you don't have to pay these charges...be sure to ask.

Heavy title I know, but after reading some of the negative reviews it has become very obvious that it was very very biased.
FIrst off there are 2 Hiltons in Santa Fe. One is called Thunder Mountain Resort, the other is the Hilton in downtown Santa Fe. The people that complained should have stayed at the resort if that is what they expected.
As for the Hilton downtown my stay was lovely. First off the location is super, within walking distance of the shopping downtown area. Restaurants are literally steps away. You do have to pay for parking, but this is generally the case when you stay at any downtown hotel. Considering the high prices of parking downtown however this is quite a deal. The building itself is a historic building, and has beautiful features. The lobby is very nice indeed and the hotel staff is very accommodating. The rooms are very nice, with a rather large flatscreen TV. Beds are verrrry comfy. The bathrooms aren't huge, but they are nicely done. Who needs a huge bathroom anyway? For being downtown it was a very quiet location where I stayed in room 165. As for amenities, the internet is not free so that would be the only negative. I would definitely stay there again.
