The Sage Inn was one of the most affordable and comfortable places I have stayed and I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Santa Fe. They have everything you need and are more than happy to help make your stay with them as pleasurable as possible.

You can find cheaper, but not better, and not within the "downtown" area. The service and amenities offered are what the modern traveller wants and expects: clean, convenient (right next door to Whole Foods Market and a ten minute walk to galleries and downtown shops), fully-equipped, self-serve breakfast area with a great variety, friendly staff, internet access, and inexpensive... overall, the best value accommodation in town.

We saw a billboard and had a coupon for this hotel saying it was the best value close to downtown. We had previously been advised by an acquaintance to stay on Cerillos Road outside the city for affordability. We called to see if they would honor the coupon (one that works only with no prior reservation) since it was Spring Break . They said yes so we drove there rather than stopping earlier. When checking in we mentioned that we had this coupon but had seen a billboard with a lower rate mentioned and they quickly said that they would honor the billboard rate. Everything was easy there and all our needs were more than met. They even willingly gave me change! The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. We were able to have a king-sized beds which we found to be a problem at other places while traveling across country. Their breakfast was the best we enjoyed while traveling from CA to SC. The decorating was Southwest and very attractive, there was a laundry, exercise room, outdoor tables to use while taking in the sun. The pool was not open since it was early spring and I didn't notice it really but I have a feeling it might be small. We were very happy there and while it is not a luxury hotel like those costing $200 plus it was VERY nice for the well under $100 pricetag and very convenient to the center of town with all it's restaurants and galleries. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

We received wonderful service at the Sage Inn. We booked a 2 night stay and received a third night free! They have a fantastic complimentary breakfast every morning. Norma, the lady that takes care of the breakfast, was warm and friendly and took great care of us. Our room was spotless with a wonderful Navajo decor. The hotel is about 6 blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza. The hotel provides you with a tourist map of the Plaza showing everything you might want to visit. The hotel has a free shuttle you can call for a ride, but we opted to walk everywhere and enjoyed seeing Santa Fe up close and personal.

Unfortunately, some bad reviews came in after I had booked the room. I called the hotel and was assured that we were in one of the newly renovated rooms. Because we arrived at 11 pm, I hate to think that we were in one of their better rooms. The room smelled and there were a few sticky spots on the carpet. We put towels over them. Our socks were filthy from walking on the carpet. We were there for four nights and we tried to get a new room each day but there were none available. Manager was never on duty and never called me. Staff was very nice but not helpful in resolving our issues.

Stayed in Santa Fe on our motorcycle cross country trip at the Sage Inn in June of 2007. Recommended to us by a local woman motorcycle rider we met while hiding out from a terrible thunderstorm. She escorted us right there and rooms were available without a reservation. Very nice and clean. We could walk to the plaza, a little bit of a hike, but we enjoyed it. Lots of pretty old missions and old country (spanish) charm. We were told that Santa Fe has more of an old world spanish feel than Mexican. Pretty location and architecture, distant mountain views. Lots of quaint shops and restaurants. We did not travel any further north than Sante Fe, would have liked to make it up to Taos on the bike. However, it is way off the beaten path. The route we took from I40 to Sante Fe was pretty barren of all but cattle and sagebrush. Even so It was a pretty ride - you can see for miles and miles. However, I probably would have enjoyed it more if we weren't trying to beat that scary thunderstorm chasing us down!

While clean, the room was so small that if one person was seated at the desk, the other person would have to climb over the bed to get to the bathroom. Luckily, we were only there for one night. For some bizarre reason, they have the ice machine locked up. I tried my room key card 3 or 4 times and it wouldn't open. I walked all the the way back to my room and got my husband's card. That didn't work either. I called the front desk and the nice staff person told me the cards for my building's ice door needed to be swiped slowly. Why didn't anyone tell me that at checkin? Plus, I tried slow, fast, and everything in between. She did offer to send the maintenance guy who did show up quickly, but that necessitated yet another trip back outside in the cold. Ridiculous!
