Definitely worth the short drive from this hotel to The Plaza; rate was reasonable, and, while an older hotel, it's clean and well maintained. Nice bargain for the $$.
There's a shuttle that travels on the hour, but we didn't think we'd return by 7 PM, for the last trip...so opted to drive and park down near Loretto Chapel...a MUST SEE staircase!

Room Tip: A/C needs to be vented to the ceiling, as I had it blowing in my face/back of my head all night...

Like many of the lodging possibilities in Sante Fe, the Sage Inn is a fairly well maintained old school motel (for those with mobility issues or lots of luggage, a ground floor room might be in order). It is relatively close to the old city (about 15 minute walk or so to the plaza, slightly longer to canyon rd), and they have an hourly shuttle throughout much of the day. Breakfast at the hotel is okay; if you need stronger coffee, Whole Foods is next door, and there are some coffee shops/bakeries on the way into the city center. I was there with a group, so I don't know if what other choices of rooms there were, but the two queen bed option room was quite tight. If they have a king room with more available space, couples might want to consider that option. Also, our room did not have well placed outlets. If the mgmt ever revamps rooms, desks with build in outlets (at least our room did not have it) would be a welcome change for laptops and cell phones. The rooms were generally very tidy, though housecleaning seems to have forgotten us one day.

The Sage is a cute, classic Santa Fe motel with a superb location just a bit away from the expense, hassle and kitsch of the square, directly next to Whole Foods and across the street from the sublime Railyard park -- what we called "the High Line of Santa Fe." What a gem. Very nice staff, breakfast buffet with waffles, oatmeal, juices, yogurt, granola and toast/bagels, not just coffee and bad Danish. This place is a great value for those times when you would would rather NOT drop $400-500 on a fancy hotel room. Our room was very clean and comfortable and they had a wide variety of programming from DirecTV so we could chill and recover from our travels and activities with a little Shark Week ; ). We had a teen in tow and the double/double was perfectly fine, size-wise. Great location if you want to head out for some hikes or explore the Santa Fe that is not just expensive galleries and the Palace of the Governors.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the second floor-- it's a motel, so if you're on the first floor, you will ha...

We stayed at the sage having booked at Hotwire and what a find, room was good (gave us a disabled room and don't know why) staff where really friendly and room was cleaned daily, what was great was that it is really opposite the railyard complex , so easy to walk to the second street brewary and the farmers market ( go on Saturday morning great place) we had easy walk to town 15min or take sage bus, (check out summer activity in the railyard) also go meet joe at the old rail station visitors centre.

We stayed here on 28/5/2013 for one night whilst on Route 66..
Room cost $95 plus taxes which totalled $109.43 including Breakfast.

The location for this hotel was excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Santa Fe which is a really sweet place to visit.. Got to see the oldest house in USA...

The room was basic, clean and tidy, a bit noisy outside although we slept well.. wifi was very hit and miss, hotel staff were very good and tried to get it right ; this was an issue for us as we were planning our Route 66 each evening.. We were able to use the computer in the reception however... Not ideal but better than nothing...

The staff here were really lovely and friendly..

Breakfast was great... Plentiful..
Coffee and hot chocolate was available 24hrs .. Better than the room coffee so I am told, I don't drink it.. What was really lovely here, they supplied cookies throughout the 24hrs too.. They appeared to be homemade, definitely a thumbs up ...

I chose this hotel because the Inn was said to be close to down town, and it offered a free shuttle. The hotel itself is nice - but SMALL!! Our room was tiny for a king, especially compared to other places we have been staying at. Two females with 2 weeks of luggage (there were no 2 queen bed rooms left when I booked) make it for cramped quarters. Every night I found flying ants in our bathroom.

The shuttle was the best part of this stay. The pool is ridiculous - so small that 5 people in it would make it crowded. Unfortunately when we were there a large group of senior citizens were in for an opera event. They crowded the dining area every morning for breakfast, sitting and chatting and reading their papers so that there was no room for incoming guests to sit and eat. Wound up going outside to the few tables set up in the island of the parking lot - NOT convenient, especially if you'd like a refill of coffee. My Sister-in-law liked the fitness room and the fresh lemon water available daily. I felt the rooms overpriced for the second-class feel to them; thin sheets, non-absorbant towels, etc. I doubt I would stay here again if we come back to Santa Fe; there are way too many other choices in hotels to come back to someplace that caters to very large groups.

Santa Fe Sage Inn is located on the periphery of downtown. It's reasonably priced and is in walking distance from a few restaurants.I have nothing bad to say about it.The place is a fairly standard motel and if you've never been to Santa Fe, you might want to stay closer to downtown.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate you staying with us. As noted we are just six blocks from the main plaza but our location in the Railyard District is quite convenient to galleries, shops and restaurants. Our free shuttle runs on the hour to the plaza for those guests who prefer not to make the walk.
