While staying over New Years in Santa Fe, we asked for a recommendation for a good sports bar where we could watch the Redskins football game and eat. This was billed as the "best sports bar in Santa Fe". It was full as was to be expected with the Dallas Cowboys playing the Redskins so we got a table where only one of us could see the big screen TV. OK, I could live with that. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. My husband said his hamburger patty tasted like it had been purchased from the Costco meat department and grilled just to have the hash marks. I ordered Posole and it lack much green chili taste. Just dried corn and beans. Beer selection was without any brown beers but Newcastle and wines selection was limited. All in all the best we can say is the Redskins won and we left less hungry than when we arrived.

This is one of those great down home restaurants with good food and good service. It is especially good for breakfast and lunch with a good variety of New Mexican dishes and more.

Four of us the Christmas brunch at Anasazi this year, and loved our experience. From the valet parking to the table service, everything was handled with an unobtrusive attentiveness that makes for a great experience. I have not eaten here in several years, and cannot compare the menu to their regular menu, but can say that everything was prepared with great care, and made to seem part of the season. The ginger carrot soup and the ancho spiced shrimp made great starters. The beef tenderloin was perfectly prepared and so tender that no knife was necessary. The root vegetables were allowed to show their own character rather than being buried in unnecessary spices. We accompanied the meal with a very nice bottle of prosecco to start and then a wonderful Kistler chardonnay (okay, maybe it should have been a pinot). For us, this visit was a rediscovery of a restaurant to which we intend to return soon. Maybe a group dinner in the wine cellar room which is private.

There are so many great restaurants to choose from, one gets spoiled. You can eat your way through and not get them all. I live here, and am still discovering them.
