Newly opened, the Bourbon Grill at El Gancho still needs a few finishing touches. The staff are all eager to please, but poorly trained. Our waiter failed to notice that there was no silverware at our table, for example, and used plates were not cleared while we were at the buffet.

That said, the food was very good. The Sunday brunch is only $19.95 and includes a glass of champagne or a mimosa. The buffet selections were wide and included shrimp, crab, a roast carving station and an omelet station as well as the traditional breakfast choices. The selection of desserts was not so impressive, offering only cheesecake and/or chocolate mousse.

I've previously reviewed brunch at the Bourbon Grill. Now it's time for dinner. Mom took us there for our anniversary last weekend. My husband had a shrimp cocktail appetizer. Large, delicious shrimp done perfectly. Mom and I shared the fried ravioli. Not something I would ever order, but she wanted it. WOW! Yummy! Next came a large salad (it comes with the meal). Husband had steak, I had salmon, and Mom had fried shrimp. All were excellent. The bartender is excellent, so I ordered my special occasion drink - a dry rob roy up with a twist of lime. It was so good that I asked if I could order just half a drink more. Not a problem. And I don't want to forget to mention Beau, or waiter. A big shout out to him. Pleasant, efficient, and excellent no matter how busy. And in conclusion I just want to mention that you can order the bar menu in the dining room.

I had a great meal and so did my friends and didn't pay an arm and leg. We all had different meals and really enjoyed it. We went for lunch and had salads and sandwiches. Oh yes, and Margaritas! What really made it for us was our waiter - Bo- He was very accommodating and efficient. I recommend this place for sure.

While I loved the Steaksmith and still mourn its closing, the Bourbon Grill, its successor , is a worthy replacement. The staff is great. They remembered our favorite drink (Dark and Stormy) which is a great step in improving it. We like to eat off their appetizer menu though their dinner menu is very good. Hope they get more customers as they deserve to be better appreciated.

We went in on a Tuesday night and the staff was friendly. However they did not know the daily specials posted on the wall as you walk in. And they seemed confused by questions about menu items.

Normally I would just chalk this up to the state of our country’s educational system as a whole, but at these price points the staff should know the special and be able to explain menu items.

Our food was alright, but nothing spectacular. Again, the price points are up there so I was expecting more.

They have a nice bar and it looked like a popular hangout.
