“Charming B&B”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

This is a beautifully decorated B&B within easy walking distance to downtown Santa Fe. Our room was rather small, as if often the case with B&Bs, but other rooms are larger and some are even pet friendly. We had a private bathroom. The server, Kim, was very friendly as were the owner Sue and other staff we met. The breakfasts were wonderful, especially the French toast with fruit syrup. All areas are decorated colorfully and tastefully. Great value.

Our stay in the back corner room (#8) at El Paradero in Santa Fe was wonderful.
Staff are knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and useful.
We adored having a real working kiva fireplace in the room, and used it in the evening and before breakfast.
The room has a private bathroom with a key across the hall. Robes and towels are provided.
Breakfast is a good selection of options, with a fixed main dish which was altered for my gluten-free wife.
The B&B is an easy walk to both the central square of Santa Fe and the art galleries, and to the rail station and farmer's market and flea market. There is daily train service to Albuquerque just a short walk away for about $7.
Paradero has a dog. It seems all places in NM have dogs.
The room could use thicker curtains due to too much light behind and beside the building.
We would return to this B&B. It has a real sense of New Mexico style and flair in an historic building.

Having stayed at El Paradero twice before, we couldn't wait to return. We looked forward to those breakfasts, in that sunny, colorful room, for a month! Some of the rooms are pet-friendly, and it's a short walk either to the Plaza or to a wonderful park, so we love to come here with our dogs. Every room's decor is unique and authentic, making it easy to imagine the building's history. We don't spend much time there during the day -- too many things to see in Santa Fe! -- but the comfortable parlor and sunny courtyard were tempting (especially in the afternoon, when scrumptious goodies are put out for tea). Sue is the ideal innkeeper.

I went to El Paradero with 3 girlfriends in late March 2013. The decor is really fantastic, exactly what I had been hoping to see in Santa Fe. While I would personally describe this as more of a lovely boutique hotel with breakfast - as it was much larger than most b&b's I've encountered - I must concede that the breakfasts were among the best I have ever had at any hotel, b&b or otherwise. One friend and I stayed in room 8, at the far end of the hotel, with a wonderful little Kiva fireplace. Our private bathroom was located across the hall and was also lovely, but was not refilled with toilet paper even when we had almost none left on our backup roll, so I took some from the communal WC in the main house. The other 2 stayed in room 12, which was just beautiful and incredibly spacious. Everyone reports sleeping well, and the breakfast was always sure to draw us out even if we weren't quite ready to be up - not to mention that our breakfast server was so personable and helpful and was always happy to help with a New Mexico recommendation or a coffee refill.

Room Tip: Room 8 is closest to the (quiet) parking area, and has a wonderful wood-burning fireplace. Room 12 i...

My husband and I chose El Paradero through Trip Advisor and print sources. It was every bit as good as promised. Sue has honed the operation to a (people-friendly!) science: our room, cozy; the food, authentic and delicious; the atmosphere; welcoming. Sue has struck the right help/autonomy balance: the staff was always accessible but I could relax anywhere in the common areas at any time without being micro-managed. On the last day, we had to leave before breakfast. Sue provided a sack breakfast complete with muffins, fruit, and a generous bag of that killer granola! We stayed in two rooms. Room Six gave us the adobe experience including the kiva stove and quick access to the patio area. Room Ten, upstairs, provided a different feel with inlaid tile and lots of sun. Santa Fe, if you call me again, may I stay at El Paradero?!

I had a great stay. I had to arrive and leave at weird times, and the owners were helpful and accomodating. The room was great, and the food was delicious! The homemade granola was amazing. The hotel is in an old building, which is a neat experience in itself.

On our recent return from an Arizona vacation we stopped one night at El Paradero. What a gem! I have been to Santa Fe many times, this is my first time feeling totally immersed in the culture. We arrived after check in but this B&B has a very smooth after hours check in process. Our room was comfortable and wonderfully decorated, which celebrated the city and the culture. Our bathroom was across the hall from our room but very clean and very private.
There were many features of El Paradero that we were unable to take advantage of because of our one night stay however, the breakfast is not to be missed. It is simple but substantial and the staff we encounter at breakfast were very friendly and helpful.
Perhaps the best feature of El Paradero is it's proximity to downtown Santa Fe. We walked to dinner after arriving and we walked around the plaza before we left in the morning. El Paradero is comfortable, convenient, and wonderfully Santa Fe!
