“Perfection , loved the cottage”
Reviewed June 26, 2008

Just back from a three night stay in The Cottage at Alexanders Inn. The cottage was exactly as it looked in the photos, but the small personal touches made it just perfect. The welcome pack of cookies , fruit wine salsa and chips were such a treat after a day of travelling sitting outside on the patio in the lovely garden. It was spottless, parking on site and a very short walk to the plaza and canyon road. It was such a wonderful place to relax that we popped back between walks, the fresh coffee beans and grinder were well used. Caroline the owner was really helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. It felt like a little hide away but minutes from the plaza. The Cottage and Alexanders Inn really made our trip to Santa Fe . I can only say if you are looking for the personal touch, but want the space of your own place this is ideal. We hope that we can return to Santa Fe and this will be our first stop. A home from home.

We recently had the pleasure of a fabulous four days in Juniper, which is a spacious, light-filled and beautifully decorated casita. I love inns, but my husband prefers to be more private than most inns allow, and this was the perfect compromise for us. We arrived to homemade cookies and a very personable innkeeper at the sister inn (The Madeleine) who helped us with check-in. This same innkeeper was available to help us during our stay with restaurant ideas and other visitor assistance, but we had the complete privacy of our own house while in Santa Fe. Oh yes, and daily maid service as well, which is unusual in a vacation rental. The place is typical Santa Fe style, with great tiles, a kiva fireplace and lots of Mexican folk art, and is located within easy walking distance of the galleries of Canyon Road, great restaurants and the Plaza. We saw the adjoining Pinon, which is even larger, and found that quite lovely as well. I enjoyed one of the best massages I have ever had at the establishment’s spa called Absolute Nirvana. Definitely a place to return

Alexander's Inn is actually a collection of four small houses. Two old friends and I stayed in the Casita and Cottage, which share the grounds of the inn, where the innkeeper and her family live. Although just a few blocks from the plaza and the Canyon Road galleries, we were off on a side street and enjoyed quiet, stars, and a lovely garden. We had our own porch, living rooms, snacks, coffee, and kitchens, yet we benefited from the restaurant advice and friendliness of our gracious innkeeper.

The houses are beautifully and tastefully decorated in New Mexican style--think kiva fireplaces and lots of tile--with a sunny bedroom just a circular stairway away.

Far nicer than the Santa Fe hotel rooms one of our group had previously stayed in, and about the same price. Highly recommended!

We stayed at "The Cottage" for ten days in October 2007 and found it to be the perfect location for getting comfortable with Sante Fe and the surrounding area. The accommodations were exactly as described and pictured on Alexander's Inn website. The Cottage is an easy walk to downtown and Canyon Road. There was plenty of room to consider the
Cottage a home rather than a hotel room. Being able to make light meals and have our own space was a tremendous plus to our vacation. Owner, Carolyn, was very helpful and thoughtful. We highly recommend the Cottage! Diane and Gary Ginsberg, Virginia.

My husband and I have stayed at Alexander’s Inn annually since our 1998 wedding. We initially chose the Inn because we liked the staff. This has remained true over our 9 years of staying there. Alexander’s Inn was a B&B until recently as the owner, Carolyn Lee, moved into the main house (which has freed up parking behind the Inn!). It is now considered a “vacation rental”. Check out Madeleine Inn for a nearby B&B with the same owner. We stay in the Cottage which is a roomy casita with dining area, living room, fireplace, and bathroom (shower and Jacuzzi tub) on the first floor. The bedroom is on the second floor reached by a narrow spiral staircase (not good for mobility impaired folks). The location is about 5 blocks east of the Plaza – an easy walk, but far enough away to be very quiet. The grounds are always beautiful. Most of all, the service is fantastic from little touches such as champagne and strawberries to celebrate an anniversary, to restaurant recommendations, etc. I highly recommend staying here. We plan to continue our annual trip here.

I found Alexander's Inn on the Santa Fe website. I followed the guided tours of the rooms, but was sold when I found intriguing recipes on their website. We stayed 4 nights in March. The rooms are lovely and comfortable. Close to the heart of the city, the location is ideal. The owner, Carolyn, and her wonderful staff were ever friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. But MOST OF ALL, the food is extraordinary! I am a good cook who loves breakfast. Each morning was inventive and sumptuous. Afternoons brought wine, cheese, fruit, and homemade cookies.

We not only can't wait to go back, our daughter is getting married in Santa Fe next year, and we plan to take over the whole Inn.
