“Very Good Pastries”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

My husband and I stopped by here yesterday for some snacks before hitting the road. Their croissons and apple tarts were fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced. The service was friendly. And their dining area was almost filled for breakfast at 8:45.

“Don't miss it”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Housed in the historic La Fonda's former Fred Harvey gift shop, this wonderful mini-bistro is essential for those new to Santa Fe. The charming owner moved from France to Santa Fe decades ago but hasn't lost his charm or his touch for perfect pastry. They serve crepes, salads, and sandwitches all day, but are beloved for cafe au lait and chocolate and fruit pastries. Go early as croissants and other delicacies run out by noon.

Everything! Made fresh everyday, in the heart of Santa Fe! Good service with great menu choices. If only they had a patio.

“Mediocre at best”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

The French Pastry Shop" at the La Fonda hotel is mediocre at best. Their food is high priced and not comparable to the other french bakery in Santa Fe, Clafoutis. The French Pastry shop only serves Smuckers with their croissants. I don't eat Smuckers at home, I do not wish to eat Smuckers at a high end French Bakery on vacation. Skip this bakery and run to Clafoutis.

“quick take on French Pastry Shop”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Background: family vacation with 3 kids, all under 12. Mother-in-law as well. Picked pastry shop based on recommendation of a colleague who has been to Santa Fe several times in last 7 years. Arrived for breakfast

Location: fantastic. adjacent to plaza, and half block from Cathedral. In the La Fonda hotel, a beautiful hotel.

Decor: rustic, old copper pot adorn mantles and walls. Very nice. Enough space to sit.

Service: fast, nice. attentive. Pain in the rear that it is a CASH ONLY restaurant. Makes no sense.

Food: Avoid the croissants. Bad, especially for a French bakery. Overcooked, not light and flaky. Breakfast crepe with cheese and chorizo...not tasty. Cheese is too strong. Might be swiss cheese. The crepe was thick and overcooked. Again, for a French place, bad. Spinach quiche was good, thick, and with a hearty portion of spinach. Crust flaky, tasty. Strawberry crepe unenlightened. Was a lighter, thinner crepe with strawberries inside...just packed in. No sauce, no jelly (of sorts), nada. You could do this at home easy...make a think pancake and use it to wrap some strawberries...et voila.

Sadly, our recently closed French Bakery in San Antonio was much, much better than this. I expected and wanted more. It was mediocre and for that price...most expensive mediocre breakfast I've ever had.
