Description: Gabriel’s, serving food of the Southwest and Old Mexico — renowned in New Mexico — is considered one of the best restaurants in America by Zagat. The personal attention to service and food is what makes Gabriel’s special: a place where little touches enhance your whole dining experience. Guacamole made tableside. Freshly squeezed lime margaritas made with gold tequila. Handmade corn tortillas. An authentic mix of modern and classic Mexican and Southwestern dishes and seasonal specials.

Ate here twice during our stay in Santa Fe. The at your table-prepared guacamole is wonderful. I enjoyed my chicken with mole sauce on my first visit, but on the second visit, I'm pretty sure we got canned charro beans. Despite that, I still would recommend this place. It has a beautiful outdoor dining area. You gotta order the guac!

Gabriel's has a fantastic atmosphere and the guacamole made table side is an excellent touch! The guacamole and the salsa and both very tasty along with the chips served before the entrée. However, I made the Taos combination (a taco and enchilada with beans and rice)... very very mediocre. The enchilada didn't have near enough sauce on it plus it was bland with no real red chili taste. The taco was nothing to write home about either. I was at a table of 16 and not one person commented on how good the food was. The saving grace, however, was the sopapilla served at the end of the meal. It honestly was the best I've ever had (and I've eaten tons and tons of New Mexican food). It was really hard to tell if it was fried and perhaps baked (and they are always fried). It was tasty and greaseless! BTW, you have to ask for them as they don't seem to be brought automatically even though they are a part of the meal.

Outdoor seating, guacamole made tableside, excellent meals, what is there not to like? This is what I imagine a Santa Fe restaurant would be. Highly recommend. You HAVE to have the guacamole to start!

The guacamole prepared table side is excellent. There are many vegetarian options. All dishes were flavorful without a lot of oil
I loved the enchiladas verduras
And my husband had amazing fish fajitas . I wish there was Mexican food this delicious on the east coast

Whether you dress up or dress down this is a must on your trip. Kid and adult friendly. The food is fantastic and very authentic.
