Went on A Saturday night, made reservations for 730 for the tapas bar/music room a few days earlier. Very welcoming with a great table. Service on point, the manager would jump in and make sure everything was right. Yet, at our pace and never intrusive. Tasty Sangria, get a liter. Scallops seared perfectly...filet very tasty, had it with the stuffed mushrooms. Divine crab croquettes and stuffed artichokes, all with garnishes and sauces. Great jazz that night along with a lovely goat cheese cheesecake and cordials.

We celebrated my Son's 16th Birthday - a special occasion for us. He has decided to go to Spain on foreign exchange and has committed to learning the language and learning the culture. When we asked where he wanted to celebrate his birthday he said at a Spanish Restaurant, so El Meson was our choice. With no choices available in Albuquerque, we made the drive to Santa Fe on a weeknight to celebrate. We found the ambiance to be a great "introduction" to Spain; I look forward to his comparison to actual Spanish establishments next year. The food was beyond our expectations, even though I have tasted Spanish cuisine before. The selection of Tapas made for a fun night as we picked and chose various selections to start our meal. The Paella Valeciana was excellent and would be my recommendation for anyone looking for a seafood experience in New Mexico! We are natives to the State and one of our families "quirks" is being able to share off of each other’s plates and tasting all the food at the table, so this was perfect for our us. We loved the family-style dishes and as advertised the meal became a shared experience for us. The last touch was the Flan, which was the one specific request from my Son. It came out with a candle and words of encouragement and reinforcement of my Son's decision to go to Spain for his studies! Special indeed, but made even better by the flavor, the Flan Naranja, is a fragrant and unique taste. I would highly recommend this desert. Here's to the El Meson's effort to make this a memorable night for my family!

We went here for a small meal on a Friday night in order to have something a little different. We arrived early, as we did not have a reservation and wanted to see if we could get in. We were seated near the front door in the only table that was available. We started with some rose, then the tapas. We decided it would be easier to manage the amount of food if we didn't go for paella or some other large dish. We enjoyed the jamon Serrano, a rather large amount of ham and quite delicious. We had ostras fritas al romesco (grilled oysters), padrone pepper (small sweet peppers that were grilled perfectly), and two of the specials. We also had some nice Spanish wines to go along. We also splurged on crema catalane and a dessert special.
Service was prompt and attentive, and we always had enough in front of us to keep us happy.

It was a little too dark for pictures without using the flash, which I figured would be too disruptive.

While it may not be as authentic as going to Spain, the experience was worth the stop. It was a nice dinner, and we would go back another time.

It was a nice restaurant, the food was good as far as I can remember, we went 1 year ago. My husband is really picky and he liked it. The service was also good.
