“Classy and Beautiful”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We visited this restaurant for lunch on September 9th 2013. It is inside the historic La Fonda Hotel. The building was designed by Mary Jane Colter. She designed a number of the wonderful lodges like Bright Angel, and the Watch Tower at Desert View on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
So if you like those you will love the hotel. The restaurant is like walking into a court yard of an old hacienda. it is open and two stories with skylights. the floor is Mexican tile and there are French style doors around the bottom. All the glass panels of the doors had wonderful bright color decorations. The second floor is a balcony.
Going in with all that I figured prices were going to be high but when looking at the menu that wasn't so. I would call it mid range. We got a fajita plate for two and it was enough for three with small appetites. ($24) A great place to rest have a good meal and enjoy the surroundings.

“Good New Mexican Food in a Really Lovely Setting”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

The La Fonda Hotel, "the Inn at the End of the Santa Fe Trail" is a lovely and very historic hotel right on the Plaza in Santa Fe. It's La Plazuela restaurant is directly off the main lobby, encased in floor to ceiling windows painted with our local New Mexican folk art designs. The place is large, light, beautiful with tall potted trees and the atmosphere is very Santa Fe. I think the food is good. We like their Huevos Rancheros and their enchiladas especially. This is a fun place to experience a nice Santa Fe meal.

“Always a blast to visit”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

The food is varied from fish to enchiladas and steaks... The sopas are excellent and the margaritas are great! The Guacamole is made fresh in front of you. Prices are very reasonable (the steaks are slightly higher). About $90 for our party of three incl a margarita, beer and iced tea. The waitstaff is friendly and the waiters remember you. The dining area is very elaborately decorated with tile floors and glass doors. Park in the Hotel garage or there is a street lot to the right and up the street.

“La Plazuela is a MUST each time I visit Santa Fe!”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

I've been to Santa Fe several times and always include La Plazuela at La Fonda on my trip itinerary. The atmosphere, food, and service are superb. I ordered chili relleno; my friends had salmon and a gluten-free chicken meal. I've never been disappointed. I love the history of La Fonda's connection to Route 66 as a former Harvey House. The lobby is filled with historic photos and surrounded with some amazing shoppes. While we were waiting for La Plazuela to open, a wedding party escorted by a mariachi band entered the hotel. One could sit in the lobby for hours just soaking in the atmosphere.

“good food”

Dinner was pricey but worth the money. The atmosphere was nice and I think that is what you pay for. I had the Mexican food and it was not disappointing.
