Description: Tecolote Cafe was started in 1980 by Bill and Alice Jennison with a desire to feed guests great meals, affordably, with superior service. Mr. Bill and Alice's recipes have been pleasing palettes for 31 years. In May of 2010, sadly, we lost Mr. Bill after a long and accomplished life. Since August 2010, Katherine Adkins (Bill and Alice's daughter) and her husband Matt Adkins have been doing their best to honor Mr. Bill and Ms. Alice's vision in carrying on the family business. Sadly we also lost Ms.Alice in December of 2012. We offer a varied menu focusing primarily on New Mexican breakfast and lunch cuisine, as well as some American favorites. We bake all of our breads in house as well as our muffins and biscuits contained in our bakery basket. A little known secret to our great burgers? Fresh baked Kaiser rolls to vehicle our superb patties and ingredients. Whether you come for breakfast or lunch, we are sure you will be pleased with our delectable choices and our warm, friendly atmosphere. If you aren't, just let us know so we can make your experience everything you hoped for!Katie and I can't wait to see you on your next visit. So, come on in, and remember, we serve "Great breakfast, No toast!", just for you.

We just went to Tecolote Cafe this morning for breakfast and again we were treated to a very satisfying meal. Huevos Rancheros is our son's favorite meal to have when we go out to eat and he states that this one is now one of his favorites. As for us, the "El Corazon Contento" [kind of a heart healthy omelet] with the thinly-sliced potatoes and a micro-salad and the "Kitchen Sink" which is carne adovado with biscuits and eggs - both were really quite good because conversation stooped and food went down - quickly. Just coming off of the nasty chest colds going around, the green chili was just the right thing because today it was pretty spicy. Throw in a couple cups of coffee and we sere set to go for the day. Try it out like everyone else - we saw tourists and locals alike. Tecolote Cafe is a great place for delicious food and that's why they are getting positive reviews.

Very polite and attentive wait staff. Usually a wait, so earlier is better. I really liked their Huevos Rancheros and they have plate sized fluffy pancakes. Nifty thin sliced potatoes, a little greasy and undercooked but it was very busy so I get it. Not keen on being charged gratuity for a family of 5, just the principle I guess, since as a rule, I enjoy giving a generous tip, especially to the cool staff here.

Back in Santa Fe after many years away. Tecolote was always one of our favorite places for breakfast, and it still is. The blue corn French toast was amazing, and not an item I've seen anywhere else. It has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and servers don't rush you even when others are waiting. Convenient location on upper Cerillos. Don't miss this restaurant for breakfast!

Stopped by for breakfast with family on Christmas Eve. This place is popular and very humble. The service was great and the dining area clean. Service was quick and delicious.
Portions are good size.
This is a great alternative to the oh so expensive restaurants you will encounter downtown.

I hate to do this to a restaurant that has quite good food and a loyal clientele. Tecolote Cafe has been around forever and the raves about the food is on-going and deserved. But I do judge a place by its restrooms which were truly nasty. Not quite sure why guys simply cannot hit the toilet or throw the paper towels into the trash. It makes me wonder "what is the kitchen like"?
