Description: Tecolote Cafe was started in 1980 by Bill and Alice Jennison with a desire to feed guests great meals, affordably, with superior service. Mr. Bill and Alice's recipes have been pleasing palettes for 31 years. In May of 2010, sadly, we lost Mr. Bill after a long and accomplished life. Since August 2010, Katherine Adkins (Bill and Alice's daughter) and her husband Matt Adkins have been doing their best to honor Mr. Bill and Ms. Alice's vision in carrying on the family business. Sadly we also lost Ms.Alice in December of 2012. We offer a varied menu focusing primarily on New Mexican breakfast and lunch cuisine, as well as some American favorites. We bake all of our breads in house as well as our muffins and biscuits contained in our bakery basket. A little known secret to our great burgers? Fresh baked Kaiser rolls to vehicle our superb patties and ingredients. Whether you come for breakfast or lunch, we are sure you will be pleased with our delectable choices and our warm, friendly atmosphere. If you aren't, just let us know so we can make your experience everything you hoped for!Katie and I can't wait to see you on your next visit. So, come on in, and remember, we serve "Great breakfast, No toast!", just for you.

Leave the plaza and get to this local gem. Awesome breakfast!! Choose your bread for french toast or try the local specialties. You cannot go wrong. The muffin and biscuit basket is a great starter. I had the daily french toast special which was stuffed with an orange cream and topped with strawberries. SO GOOD I didn't even use syrup. Jalapeno bacon was yummy!!

The Huevos rancheros with green chile are SO good, especially with posole. The service is down to earth--none of that snooty Santa Fe stuff! You fell welcome as soon as you walk in the door.

We live in D.C. and make the trek to N.M. every year to visit my husband's family. We found this little cafe by accident one year and it is one of the highlights of my visit every year. Their carne adovada is perfection and my husband typically gets one of their burritos. Most meals come with a choice of sides, the best being their bread basket. It comes with 4-5 various in-house baked muffins and breads, and they are delectable. I always take them to go.

Tip: Get there EARLY! They close at 2:00 on the weekend (not sure about weekdays) and there is ALWAYS a wait of about 30-45 minutes. It's definitely worth the wait though. Also, if it's a winter month make sure to bring your coats. The waiting area is very small and there is constant traffic in and out of the restaurant, so the cold air is omnipresent.

Best breakfast in Santa Fe. Be prepared for long lines and a long wait. But the food is well worth the wait.

I go to this restaurant at least twice a month for breakfast. It is consistently good with very good service. It's not fancy and has a diner type feel to it. It's more of a locals favorite or with people in the know who come to Santa Fe frequently. The food and service are very good. Get the complimentary breakfast basket filled with a variety of fresh out of the oven muffins. They also have a very unique pancake, Pinon Atole -- blue corn flour, pinon nut pancakes. If you don't want a stack of pancakes get a short stack to share just to taste this unique treat. You can get these pancakes at a few other restaurants in town, but these are the best I have had. A caution to non Santa Feans, their green chile is pretty hot, but very good.
