Description: Tecolote Cafe was started in 1980 by Bill and Alice Jennison with a desire to feed guests great meals, affordably, with superior service. Mr. Bill and Alice's recipes have been pleasing palettes for 31 years. In May of 2010, sadly, we lost Mr. Bill after a long and accomplished life. Since August 2010, Katherine Adkins (Bill and Alice's daughter) and her husband Matt Adkins have been doing their best to honor Mr. Bill and Ms. Alice's vision in carrying on the family business. Sadly we also lost Ms.Alice in December of 2012. We offer a varied menu focusing primarily on New Mexican breakfast and lunch cuisine, as well as some American favorites. We bake all of our breads in house as well as our muffins and biscuits contained in our bakery basket. A little known secret to our great burgers? Fresh baked Kaiser rolls to vehicle our superb patties and ingredients. Whether you come for breakfast or lunch, we are sure you will be pleased with our delectable choices and our warm, friendly atmosphere. If you aren't, just let us know so we can make your experience everything you hoped for!Katie and I can't wait to see you on your next visit. So, come on in, and remember, we serve "Great breakfast, No toast!", just for you.

“Atole Pinion Pancakes”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Well, there is only one item I want to eat every time we go to Tecolote, the atole pinion pancakes. Maybe as good a breakfast food as I can remember eating. Match it with a favorite spicy breakfast dish and you have heaven, plus no need for lunch!

“Unusual breakfast”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We went for breakfast with family members we were visiting. What a find. They had so many unusual breakfast items as well as the usual fare. I had the Huevos Yucatecos that consisted of black beans on a corn tortilla, then two eggs your style, feta and Swiss cheese, smothered in green chili with a sliced fried banana lining the sides. For my side I chose posole and picked the bakery basket instead of a tortilla. What a feast!!! Everything tasted wonderful. The bakery basket was a nice treat featuring homemade muffins and a biscuit.

The other members of the family enjoyed their Atole Pancakes, Huevos Rancheros and Tortilla Soup (yes, for breakfast but she is truly weird). Everyone was very pleased with their food.

Our server, Steve, was friendly without being familiar and was witty and sociable. He added to a very pleasant dining experience.

We will definitely come back for breakfast next time we are visiting our family here in Santa Fe.

“Locals prefer”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Tecolote is a Santa Fe staple, as you can tell by the people waiting outside on any given day. Service is fast, although sometimes a little cool. I have eaten there for years and have never had a bad meal. Their red chile is to die for!!

“Just OK this time.”
Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

Food was good and filling, but not great as in the past. Tecolote may be resting a bit on its reputation these days; may need to refocus on its food and better service. Still, I'll give it another try on my next trip to Fanta Se.
