I know you may not like the idea of going to dinner at 6pm because that is what retired folks do, but it is well worth braving a few walkers and rascals to get a seat in this hidden local gem with incredible home-style NM cuisine. La Choza is the place where people in Santa Fe go for a great casual meal without the tourist buzz of the square. It is a cozy, brightly painted restaurant in an adobe house near the Railyard with friendly staff and good off street parking. The menu is varied, but not overwhelming, and everything is good. If you are a vegetarian like my husband and me you will be pleased to see the green chile, posole and tamales can all be made meat free! The margaritas are also excellent.

Prefer La Choza over Tomasita's. Although Tomasita's is better known by tourists or people that have been coming to NM off and on for years, I think the 'food' is better (especially the green chilli) at La Choza.

We had dinner here our first night in Santa Fe and in retrospect wish we had returned for more. My wife had the Carne Adovada Enchiladas and I had the Blue Corn Chicken Enchiladas. Both were fantastic. Service was personable and the atmosphere was friendly. Highly recommended.

Owned by the same folks who operate the famous "Shed" restaurant. Same great New Mexico style food one would expect from these folks. Ambiance is lacking and location is tricky to find.

Adovado is the best here. The red sauce is great. Service could be better, but the foods makes up for it.
