Arrived at Omira’s about 6:30pm and only two tables were occupied which made us a little nervous as what to expect. The décor was upscale and the ambiance was geared more toward couples and small gatherings than large groups and children. As with every Brazilian steak house there is a partial buffet for sides and salads, but this buffet is done with white porcelain serving dishes and the food they put in them is not heat and serve as you would expect, but rather chef prepared dishes from all over the world. The restaurant is located at the corner of St Francis and Cerrillos next to Susan’s Fine Wines and is open Tuesday through Sunday for Lunch 11am to 2:30pm and Dinner 5pm to 9:00pm.
For those not familiar with Brazilian steak houses they serve meat at your table throughout the meal and include everything from simple chicken to all cuts of steak and sausages and spiced meats from different countries. The carver comes around to the tables offering the meats they have out at the moment and freshly carves you off a portion. Some of the best tasting meats were the fillet mignon, spicy sirloin, Japanese beef, kielbasa sausage and grilled pineapple. Items on the buffet that I can remember are cilantro rice with black beans and steak, Irish beef stew, butternut squash soup (yummy), 5 different salads, 3 fruit salads, usual vegetables and about 6 other dishes I did not know what they were, but they looked really good.
They also serve a wide variety of wine and beer and have some microbrew and foreign beer choices if you prefer. The wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food and what was in it, attentive to our needs, but not hovering, and as friendly as can be with yes sir and no mam throughout the meal. So if you like meat and a variety at that then you can’t go wrong at Omira’s Bar and Grill, $27.95 a person and includes all the meats, sides and soups you can eat in one setting. The meats were hot, tender and juicy; the vegetables were fresh, crisp and prepared with care; and the staff were excellent guides through this meatopia of flavors and textures.
