“Well.....”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We went for lunch in June after seeing the restaurant on DDD. As we were in Albuquerque visiting relatives, we made a special trip to Santa Fe to eat lunch there and then shop. We arrived just before noon, and there were only 4 people in the restaurant. It smelled wonderful, so we found a table for our party of 4 + baby, and 2 went to place an order. This is where it got rude/ugly. As we all had never been there before, including our family who live in NM, it took a while to look at the menu and discuss. Well, the man behind the counter actually 'rolled his eye's' and said 2 times, are you ready~~are you ready yet. Totally wrong! We ordered, and brought 2 drinks to the table. We wanted water's and my hubby had to get up and try to find some water, silverware, napkins etc. to which another man had to show him. So weird! Then another patron left, and the front door did not shut all the way, and the 'rolling eye guy' from behind the counter ran to shut the door and yelled out the door "NEXT TIME SHUT THE DOOR IF YOU DON'T MIND", in a very rude manner. Anyway, after 25 plus minutes we FINALLY got our pizza delivered to our table. (There was NOBODY else waiting in there for food! It's a fresh pizza, oven fired, right?) The gentlemen did not ask if our one guest wanted more ice tea, and never offered more water etc. The pizza was ok, nothing to rave about although we did enjoy the crust with the stuff on the bottom, but that's about it. So, for the 4 of us, 2 slices each, 1 coke and 1 ice tea, over $25....uh no. I think I would rather go to another mexican restaurant, or even, gulp, Little Ceasars for pizza! SO, When in NM, eat the great NM-mexican food they have with green chili's etc. And as I former waitress, I totally HATE rude...that sets a super bad tone from the start. Hopefully as another reviewer said, "I hope the owner's read this".....I do as well.

“Loved your food! But you need work on your facility.”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

I really hope the owner/manager of Backroad Pizza reads this. Your pizza was really yummy. The caesar salad was great too. Thankfully, it was a nice day and we could eat at your outdoor tables as the stench from your bathroom was overwhelming. It was like a bad service station smell that one encounters when one is desperate and on the road. You have got to do something about that! I think it a shame that such a cute little place could be marred by bad housekeeping. So for those who read this - definitely stop for the food, but hope you can sit outside on the patio!

“Mediocre-Not for foodies”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

Another member of our traveling group had seen this place on the Food Network. This place sure IS a dive, but not not a find. It is average at best. If you are a foodie this place is not for you...

“Happiness with a cornmeal crust and green chiles!”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I decided to try Backroad Pizza after seeing it on DDD. It's a totally casual pizza place with very nice people and great crunchy thin-crust pizza! My husband had a pizza with green chiles, red onions, and meatballs. The green chiles are very mild although we were told they are quite spicy, but the flavor was excellent! The meatballs and sauce were delicious as well. Coming from the New York area, we know good pizza and this is the real deal!
