Unfortunately the ribs were on the tough side, food wasn't all that hot and the staff didn't seem bothered about you at all.

Nestled inside the Hilton this cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are a quaint little cafe with a fire place, country music playing and serving great food!

a quant charming warming bar cafe with delightful staff….the green chili chowder is worth a trip to santa fe…the charm of being in the ortiz home has a embracing warmth after a day on the plaza in any heat or weather….take a rest any time of day and stop in for a bit and a rest in the charm that makes santa fe santa fe….

After a day's drive to get to Santa Fe we were only mildly hungry, but wanted a place to decompress and have a drink. I'm normally leery of hotel bars ... El Canon is associated with the Hilton ... but we were delighted with the atmosphere and attentive service.

Two of us shared two large appetizers. It was all of the food we needed. Our drinks were promptly and carefully prepared. John even provided a separate sample of the tequila used in the margarita.

The bar is not large and wasn't at all crowded on a Thursday evening. We could converse easily without a noisey background. Unsurprisingly, the atmosphere is southwestern. We strongly recommend.

For lunch El Canon offers reasonable soups, salads and hand carved sandwiches buffet-style. Quick, friendly service. A good choice from El Canon's all you can eat soups is the Green Chile Corn Chowder, and an excellent sandwich is the Prime Rib Sandwich on your choice of thick, delicious bread. One half sandwich is more than ample when combined with soup or salad. The entrance for this handy lunch stop is on San Francisco at Sandoval about three quick blocks from the Plaza. El Canon also serves breakfast and dinner.
