Description: Osteria d'Assisi was opened in 1995, in a renovated home in the historic downtown district of Santa Fe. The restaurant is named after the city of Santa Fe's patron saint, Saint Francis, who was born in the town of Assisi in Italy. Osteria d'Assisi features regional Italian cuisine, utilizing the time honored Mediterranean approach to preparing food with olive oil and fresh ingredients. Our menu includes fresh seafood, locally grazed beef, veal and lamb, house made pasta, fresh bread baked daily, gourmet pizza and creative desserts.

“Good, but not Great”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

We arrived before dinner service so stopped at bar for a glass of wine. Atmosphere is quiet and cozy. Bartender was cordial and after a bit of time, checked to see if we could be seated in the dining room. Service was attentive and prompt. Ceasar salad greens were crisp, but dressing left a lot to be desired. Squash Ravioli was good (I think there were 5 on plate, but dish was sprinkled with what tasted like cinnamon which was a bit odd tasting. Pasta with eggplant, peppers and mozzarella was okay, with a bit too much cheese and sauce, which overpowered the flavors of the veggies. New York Italians are difficult to please to most people would enjoy the entres. Nice for a more quiet dinner experience.

“Excellent Food and Even Better Service”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

This place is so quaint yet sophisticated. The food and wine was amazing. Our waiter (Ishmael?) was so professional and inviting. It was one of the best and romantic dining experiences we have had in a long time. They offer their own parking which is a plus in the Downtown Santa Fe area.

“Italia in Northern New Mexico”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Boy, where to start here? First, the owner and staff in the restaurant are warm and welcoming. Second, the food is second to none, coordinated by chefs Lino and Christian and their colleagues in the kitchen. Finally, just like the people in the TV show "Friends," everyone at Osteria remembers your name when you come back. I compare this with other places in Santa Fe, where the owners loudly discuss their proft margins within the earshot of customers: where guests that come in without reservations are treated with disdain even though there are dozens of empty table; and where the food is clearly not prepared with any level of passion relative to its quality. Osteria is a gem among restaurnats, and on average I return there at least twice a week!
