“Unprofessional, Diner-Like Service At The Anasazi”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2006

The Anasazi was my and my wife's favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. (As Santa Fe residents we have tried almost all of them.) We even had our wedding reception there.
Our last two visits have been very disappointing.
On Christmas eve, we stopped into the bar after the walking around Santa Fe enjoying the lights and luminarias. The bartender acted disappointed and perturbed that we wanted dessert served to us in the lounge area of the bar with our drinks. We were virtually ignored the whole time we were there and delayed our exit by about fifteen minutes waiting to pay our check.
We returned for breakfast on New Years Day. We had a lovely seat. Unfortunately the service was terrible and inattentive. We had to ask for spoons long after receiving our yoghurt and fruit. Our orders were mis-taken by the server, forgetting ingredients in an omlette. The server never checked with us after someone else delivered the food. We tried ten minutes to get her attention but she was not on the floor. When the trouble was reported she removed the omlette from the table and returned in five minutes with the same cold omlette with the missing ingredients piled on top. She acted surprised that we would rather not eat a fifteen minute old, cold omlette with the ingredients on the top and reluctantly went to the kitchen to have the chef prepare a new one. The server then became grossly over-attentive, constantly asked my wife if she was finished when she had food on her plate and was still chewing.
The reviews are correct about the food. It is excellent. Unfortunately the service is now terrible. Nothing ruins a dining experience faster (no matter how good the food is) than unprofessional service.
We advised the hostess that this visit would be our last and have not returned. This is difficult for us at it was our favorite and have recommended the Anasazi to hundreds of people.
With the vast choices of fine dining in Santa Fe, I strongly recommend you avoid the Anasazi. At least until they find better staff and/or management that can train the staff they have.

“Anasazi service has slipped, unfortunately.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2005

Anasazi used to be one of my favorite high-end restaurants in Santa Fe. When my parents were in town recently, they insisted on taking my wife and me to a special dinner. We unfortunately chose Anasazi. The service has become very bad. The wait staff is not properly trained to work in an upmarket restaurant. Our party had to wait close to 15 minutes just to get any service. When our appetizers arrived, they forgot to order one. The bus people removed used silverware without replacing any, which made eating the meal quite difficult. Water glasses remained empty too. I also noticed that none of the staff were smiling. Something has definitely changed at Anasazi. My past experiences were always great, especially the service.

The one positive was the food. Excellent food, but for $25 - $35 an entree, service should be 5-star too.

“overpriced and awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2005

Between the 3 of us there was the fatty, chewy lambchops, sandy scallops, and tough stems of asparagus in our dinners. As for dessert, when you pay $9 a plate, you should not be served stewed, sweet and chewy blueberries in your dessert-how about some 'fresh' good quality blueberries? What a tourist trap. Don't go near there.
