Description: Tomasita's restaurant is a Santa Fe tradition serving classic Northern New Mexican cuisine. Stop by today for an unforgettable meal! Locally owned and operated in Santa Fe, NM, we take great pride in our high quality food, friendly and fast service, and of course our famous margaritas! Locals have consistently voted us as the premier restaurant for Best Red Chile, Best Green Chile, Best Margaritas, and Best New Mexican Restaurant! Our chiles are out of this world and you won't regret ordering either - or both! Tomasita's is a distinctly Northern New Mexican restaurant. Our recipes have been handed down for generation and serve as a reminder of the melding of cultures that together once depended on the corn, chile, beans, and fruit of the area. Since 1974, the Maryol/Gundrey family has maintained a commitment to the recipes and ingredients of New Mexico. Join us for lunch, dinner, or happy hour and try our traditional recipes with amazing flavor. Don't forget to top off your meal with a homemade dessert - sopapillas anyone

It's all about the chile. Tomasitas has the best red in ABQ or Santa Fe. The are one of the few that make theirs from whole chiles. It's silky and has that luxoriously bitter bite to it. Their green is better than average, though it's mainly just chopped chiles. I always get the same thing: a beef and bean burrito, and it's consistently terrific. One would think this would be an easy thing to make well, but it's surprising just how terrible this dish is at most New Mexcian restaurants. Others in my party ordered the huevos rancheros, tortilla soup, and enchiladas, and all were very pleased. It's not the most refined New Mexican cuisine, but it is the most authentic. Oh, and our server was simply lovely; very friendly and she didn't miss a beat. One piece of advise, though. Try to go at off hours, or you could be waiting for an eternity, depending on the size of your group.

This was the best meal I had on the trip. The red and green chili are both excellent, but the red chili....you can't get that just anywhere! The service was great. The margaritas were also very tasty. You will most likely have to wait, it is a very busy place, but well worth it.

Amid the competitive Mexican restaurant market in Santa Fe, Tomasita's stands out as a good location for families or medium-sized groups. Just a few blocks from the downtown area and close to the railroad station, it's in a convenient location for anyone staying at any of the nearby hotels. The food is very good and the portion sizes are more than enough for anyone. There are several side rooms that take away the "crowded large restaurant" feel of a place this size.

We always make a stop by Tomasita's. Meals are always served hot. Ingredients are fresh and tasty especially the chilies. Arrive early or expect a wait. Wait staff was efficient and friendly. They made several stops at table during our meal to ensure drinks were filled and food arrived promptly and met our expectations.

We enjoyed our meal, but left wondering what the fuss was about. Our meals were generously portioned and tasty, but just like the food at Mexican restaurants everywhere. Items made with blue corn (like tacos and tamales) were a little out of the ordinary and a nice touch. Service was friendly, but not the most dependable. After agreeing happily to a substitution, my dish arrived exactly as described on the menu -- minus the substitution. Probably wouldn't go back.
