This place never disappoints. Superb Italian cuisine, with some less common dishes. Not much like spaghetti marinara, veal marsala or chicken picatta, but instead pappardelle with duck sauce, pumpkin gorgonzola ravioli, or Venetian style chicken livers, just to name a few. Service is efficient, staff helpful (our waiter had reading glasses to lend to my friend who had forgotten hers). Of course, since its downtown, parking can be a problem, but don't let that stop you. Good wine list.

I wish I had read the reviews here before going! The service was awful.

The entrees were served before the appetizers. The appetizers tasted good when we finally got them, which was after we sent the entrees back. So guess what? When we eventually got the entrees, which was quite a while after we finished our appetizers, they were just plain cold, apparently having sat out the 30 minute interval. - - in spite of an unsolicited comment by the staff that they'd give us a fresh dish. It went on and on. It was a comedy of errors. Really amateur hour.

Give the management credit for one thing: they apologized several times and did not charge us for our unbeaten entrees.

Il Piatto is a sham. The food is not appealing in presentaton. It is not quality superb chef created Italienne cuisine at all as the pumped up web sites describe. Chef Matt Yolahem and his wife Honey should be an episode on Chef Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Do not waste your money and time at tis place. Forgedda 'bout this disasterous restaurant. It should tank and close! There are other good Italienne places in Santa Fe, NM

Il Piatto has a magnificent prix fixe afternoon lunch, consisting of appetizer, main and dessert. I had grilled calamari, together with sautéed duck liver and a delicious 3-decker tiramisu, all for $16.95. Wine is in addition to that, typically $10. I look for wonderful and quite places to hang out and read on a Saturday afternoon in Santa Fe, and these are hard to find in winter. But, with Doug's exquisite service and zero pressure to make my table available, I found it! With a window offer a view of a quiet snow outside, the afternoon couldn't have been finer. Highly recommended. I should mention that they also have happy hour 7 nights a week from 4:30 til 6:00, and, after 9pm until 10:30, half off appetizers and wine by the glass, or a $20 prix fixe, your choice. This is also unusual, since it's so difficult to find a dinner at 9:30 in Santa Fe.

Meeting Santa Fe friends for dinner, and they suggested this restaurant because it's quiet and easy to visit. Interesting menu choices--not the typical Italian fare found at many locations. Everything was tasty. I had pumpkin ravioli and a yummy chocolate mousse for dessert. Others had polenta-crusted trout and another specialty ravioli. I suspect the menu changes often. Il Piatto stays open till 10:30 seven night a week. I see from the website that they received a trip advisor "travelers choice" award for 2012 as well as some other recognitions.
