Description: The Plaza Cafe on the Santa Fe Plaza is a historic restaurant that has reopened after a fire in Sep 2010. It is the dining hub on the Plaza. It reopened last week and I would like to write a review of my experience. Joe Shaffer

“An easy good choice for a walk-in meal on the Plaza.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

The Plaza Café is an always busy, noisy, fun place for a no-reservation meal on the Plaza. Food and service are almost always good or better. Menu is varied, including Greek and New Mexican (the green chile is hot and good) and then some. This past weekend we went for excellent take-out (yes they do that too) breakfast burritos with bacon and green chile to eat while waiting for the Indian Market fashion show on the Plaza.

“Good food and suprise for my wife”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

I have eaten here several times in the past. Good NM food in a great little cafe.
After lunch the manager helped me surprise my wife by letting me out the back door, buying something she wanted from Ortega's and back in the restaurant. The manager put the bracelet on a plate with some Flan and presented it to her.
They went out of their way to do this special gift.

“Not worth the hype”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013

We had looked forward to eating here after so many recommends. The diner style was fine and the service was good. The food, however, was only average. Nothing was bad but nothing was worth writing home about either. Those claiming spicy must not be accustomed to spicy foods as everything could have used a little more zip.

All in all... Not bad if you have a desire to go there. $14 for what should be an $8 lunch is a bit much though. Next time we will just visit the street vendors.

“Tasty and spicy New Mexican Favorites...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

Nothing fancy, but just good food, good service, casual atmosphere, and reasonable prices. My husband loves their chile bowl with chicken, red chile, calabacitas, and beans. I had enchiladas with calabacitas and red and green chile. So good--spicy, but not so hot you couldn't enjoy the flavor. As we enjoyed our meal, we looked at other diners, and the smiles and laughter at all the tables spoke to the simple charm and relaxed atmosphere. People were enjoying themselves!

“Exceeds expectations!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

Great food and great service in a diner setting. Best huevos rancheros I have ever had - they have a real red chili kick. None of this bland Americanized nonsense. Why wait an hour for the trendy spots like Cafe Pasqual? Come here instead! Finish up with coffee and a sopapilla.
