Such a great hike. The very daring can climb up over small water falls to get to large one. Be prepared to get feet wet. Great place to have a picnic too. It is dog friendly.

It's a $10 car entry fee to get in. There are two paths you can take, one takes you to the base of the falls and you cross the river 5 times to get there. So take watershoes and plan on getting wet in cold water. The path on the right is a 15 min fairly easy climb to an overlook point. Nice view but I don't recommend taking small children. There's no safety barriers and the drop is extreme. I was nervous with an 8 year old. I wish I had packed a lunch to enjoy the scenery longer.

We stumbled upon this place while out looking for pueblo's. Bring a picnic lunch and have a beautiful/relaxing day enjoying nature. Truly a lovely place to spend time and really worth the $10 car entry fee.

The hike to the tops of the falls is a little steep and the path has seen better days, but totally hikable. At the top you see the main falls and the top of the dam. I highly recommend walking the path on the left of the river which heads to the base of the waterfall. There you can actually play in and swim in the pool of water down there, which is chilly!

Travelers tip:
-If you take the lower path to the base of the falls, bring shoes you are ok with getting wet. Part of the path to get there is actually walking in the river and it has a rocky bed. I got through it barefoot, slowly, but it would have been nice to have protection for my feet!

Nambe Falls is a nice hike just a few miles north of Santa Fe. It's a fairly trek but it's off the beaten track and worth the $10/car admission fee. It's closed from late fall through spring, so definitely check their website to see if it's open. It's on the Nambe Pueblo reservation, which produces the famed silver bowls, etc.
