Wow Wow and Wow. We LOVED the Old Santa Fe Inn.

Family Owned.
Beautifully Decorated Room.
Plush Linens.
Kiva Fireplace was a spectacular touch.
Walking proximity to sights, restaurants, museums, shopping.
Gracious Friendly Staff.
Insanely good, hearty, healthy, savory breakfast.
Relaxing Lobby Area with room for reading; sitting by the fire.

But what really impressed us was the thoughtful touches – all the things we wish for in a hotel room but find rarely provided:

EZ Access Electrical Outlet “hubs” placed throughout the room.
iHome w/ Charging Station
Mini Fridge
Good hairdryer (not a weak wall mounted unit)
Plush robes
Jacuzzi Tub
Bathroom Light Switch that does NOT activate a noisy exhaust fan
Full size dressing mirror.
Comfortable sitting chairs

The Owners thought of everything we often wish other hoteliers would.
We will definitely be back.

My family stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas. We were very keen to explore the Santa Fe area, and after reading many rave reviews in TripAdvisor we decided that Old Santa Fe Inn would be our base. We promptly booked two suites, one with twin beds for our two adult sons, and one for my wife and I and our 10-year old son. This was going to be a 'once-in-a-lifetime' trip and since we would be travelling all the way from South Africa, we made the reservations with specific mention of the sleeping arrangement required, and prepaid these suites through Expedia a full 5 months in advance.
Well we were in for a very rude awakening! We arrived at the Inn in darkness after many grueling flights to find that our specific sleeping arrangements had been totally ignored. The front desk staff member seemed too tired to care, and mumbled something about this being Expedia's fault since they only forwarded the booking details to them on the day of the customer's arrival (so our 5 months' advance arrangements actually meant nothing to them; they almost seemed happy to simply blame us and Expedia for the position we were in!). Although they did have suites that matched our requirement, these were no longer available... In the end my two adult sons had to share a double bed in one suite, and the roll-away bed that was eventually brought to our second suite later that night for our 10 year old son took up so much space that we literally had to climb over it to get to the small bathroom. We asked them to remove it the very next morning, and my wife and I and our 10-year old son shared the double bed in the second suite.
Perhaps this influenced the way we experienced the rest of the stay as well, but we were generally rather disappointed and will definitely not return to this establishment again. The highly praised breakfasts were only so-so, the general ambiance was almost geriatric, the in-your-face pleas for tips for staff (in the breakfast area; at the coffee area; in the rooms;...) only added insult to injury.
On the positive side, we found some really helpful staff members on days three and four, we could comfortably walk to the old town square, and we made good use of the free coffee in the Inn's common area.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere; there are many other establishments that are also within walking distance to the town square!

We appreciate your patronage, but it's a little unfair to state that your accommodation requests "were totally ignored". If we don't receive your requests from your travel agents until just before you arrive, and if we do not have the needed rooms available (we are a smaller, boutique property), there is little we can do other than to contact your travel agent and inform them of this, which we did. After flying all the way from South Africa, we understand that you were upset to find things not as you'd expected, but I believe this set the tone for a negative perception of many other things and formed the basis of an overall negative review. I urge anyone reading this review to consider the circumstances here. To the client who wrote this: if you contact me directly, we can discuss this further and see if there is anything else we can do to address this. Thank you for your patronage.

We stayed here for 5 nights as a base camp for the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque in the beginning of October. The Inn was very clean and is in a great location, within walking distance to the Plaza and all the shops and restaurants. The suite we had was spacious and we were greeted with some nice touches like chocolates and bottled waters. There was also a mini fridge and microwave and lots of brochures and booklets about Santa Fe and the surrounding areas. The lobby was the favorite place for our kids to go. They always had lots of apples and lemon ice water available. In the evening they had chocolate chip cookies that usually ended up being our dessert. Also, the full breakfast in the morning was wonderful. They had a huge burrito bar, lots of fruit and all the other traditional breakfast foods. Just need to mention a few things however, since I could not give it 5 stars. Although all the staff were very nice, the morning front desk staff seemed to be more helpful and knowledgeable than the evening staff. We had a couple of issues with incorrect directions to a restaurant for dinner that led us on a wild goose chase when we were starving and also one gentleman wasn't overly eager to put a few more cookies in the oven when we arrived in the lobby to an already empty plate. Our room was immaculate but the pipes in the wall behind the bed were somewhat noisy and the tub/shower had seen better days. Lastly, something else to be aware of is that there is no on-site laundry facility so we had to drop off our clothes at a laundry service down the road. Oh, and if you don't like firm pillows then bring your own from home. I unfortunately wasn't able to bring mine and had neck issues for quite a while. Overall however, it was a good experience and I would recommend staying here when visiting Santa Fe.

Everything was very nice with the exception of ONE thing. If you call three months in advance and make a reservation for a King Deluxe Suite with a Jacuzzi (as I did), and are TOLD that a King Deluxe Suite with a Jacuzzi will be $182.00 per night for your three night stay during your Christmas get-a-way (as I was), be STRONGLY forewarned that since apparently not all King Deluxe Suites HAVE a Jacuzzi, whether or not YOU will get the King Deluxe Suite with a Jacuzzi you RESERVED and were TOLD you would have upon your arrival is apparently totally dependent upon the mood of whoever is working behind the desk or which hotel guests arrive first - ???? - they were unable to make it clear to me what their decision was based upon. Certainly NOT their word over the phone. Just a heads up. Other than that monumentally disappointing facet of our stay, the hotel was in a great location and the beds very comfortable.

Small, cozy, quiet, in outer perimeter of Santa Fe's downtown. Not on main drag so quiet from road noise. Good soundproofing, never heard noise from side neighbors. Only one story so no noise from upper neighbors, and parking right in front of room is convenient. Parking spaces a bit narrow, so take advantage of the couple of spaces that have more side room in center area. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, found a jeweler's screw driver for me when I needed one. Morning Santa Fe and NY newspapers in lobby. Breakfast room is on east side so great sunrise views over the scenic buildings of downtown. Very upscale dining room and food for the free breakfasts. There was a refrigerator in the room but no microwave. Everything is done in Santa Fe style so great atmosphere. Comfortable lobby with couches and reading material, including all the information you could want about attractions and restaurants. Room doors were a bit hard to open with the electronic room key, had to time the card and pushing door, usually took several tries. Free wireless was spotty which could get frustrating and take multiple tries to log on. We had two queen beds which were incredibly comfortable, soft sheets. Cookies in lobby in the evening!

Room Tip: probably rooms closest to Galisteo would have a bit more road noise, but most were in good location and quiet
