Owner attentive and trying very hard. But food quality variable. with 4 of us eating, only 2 happy: lamb and pasta a hit, chicken dry and sauce too salty, duck poor. Starter salads way too small for $10 prices. Service unprofessional -- those sitting where kitchen could be seen noticed cook calling "order up" multiple times before waitress retrieved food, and there were only about 4 tables of diners at the time. So A for owner effort, but C for results. In Santa Fe you can do way better.

The good news is that Tomme has an outdoor patio and the location is walkable from the heart of Santa Fe. The interior is likewise nice. However, if you think that paying $28 for two scallops drowning in butter is acceptable, then this is your place. I found Tomme to be a place that cooks with relatively unexciting and cheap ingredients, has poor service, yet charges high-end prices. A baked egg for $12, iceberg lettuce with bacon as a salad? Feh. Our scallops were surrounded by dry buttery spetzle devoid of character. Though the food was tasty and the unexpected appetizer of an apple slice with a slice of their home-made cheese was nice, we were both disappointed overall. The wait staff made up for the delays with a free dessert, which was over-sweet, but appreciated nonetheless. If you are new to Santa Fe, I would suggest other places to eat. I would not re-visit.

At the time of my visit,Tomme was only a couple of months old. A staff member at the local bike shop where I rented a bike knew the owner, who had been renowned in Taos for having one its best restaurants before moving his family down to Santa Fe. If my experience at Tomme is any indication, he will soon be renowned similarly in Santa Fe. The food was fresh and deliciously prepared. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the dishes and helpful. And the ambience of the restaurant was both simple and elegant. In warmer weather, there is outdoor seating, which seemed like it would be very enjoyable. It was a bit too cool to test that out in October, though. Tomme is definitely worth checking out; you won't be disappointed.

Tomme is centrally located in a stand-alone building. We visited on a Thursday evening and were surprised that the restaurant was not full- only three tables were occupied, ours included.
The food is great: very good amuses, the leek tart as a starter was a winner, and the entrees were succulent: milk braised rabbit for me - on a delicious floor of dijon mustard- and rack of lamb for my wife. We ended with the warm chocolate pudding which was masterful.
The price: 100 dollars for two (no wine included, I suffered from altitude sickness), very reasonable for the quality of food we had.
Warmly recommended!

Max is worth the visit. Food was varied and tasty. Spartan and loud when packed. Tables crowded into small space. Dinner for two was $122. Not overwhelmed.
