We read a review of Pho Kim in our local newspaper and knew we had to try it. The reviewer talked about the Banh Mi sandwich and how good it was. When we go to NY, that is always the first thing on our food list, so the prospect of a good sandwich in Santa Fe was incredible. The reviewer was dead on about the sandwich. We ordered one beef and one pork. While pork is usually my favorite, we actually found the beef to have a slight edge as the beef was very tender. They also have a chicken version and maybe next time we will give that a try. This is a spicy sandwich so if you don't like heat, you might want to pull off the jalapeno peppers before taking a bite. We didn't try anything else from the very large menu, but will next time. The sandwiches are large and it was a struggle (albeit a pleasant one) to finish the sandwich. Next time we plan on sharing a sandwich and ordering something a bit lighter off the menu. The service was excellent and the food arrived quickly. Of course, we were there for an early lunch so there was only one other table which had already been served. There seemed to be enough waitstaff even if the restaurant got crowded.
The restaurant is a bit off the beaten track as it located in the Solano Center, a strip mall which is right off of St. Francis Drive. Even if you have to drive to get there, it is well worth the trip.
