I hiked La Bajada escarpment last month with Scott the geology whiz. He provided lots of interesting facts and history to go along with the beautiful view and very cool petroglyphs. This was my FOURTH hike with Outspire, and I've never been disappointed. Each hike was well-organized and safe. Karen is superb at customizing an outing for your interests, desires, and abilities. Mountains or desert, easy or difficult, it's your choice! It's well worth the fee when you consider all that's included: transportation, snacks, water, backpack, and best of all, a private (and personable!) guide.

We took our 5 year old rock hound on a hike near Santa Fe, and we had a wonderful time. Scott was very patient with our slow pace, and explained every microscopic pebble that our daughter found. It was a great way to see and learn about the area. Karen also helped us really prepare for our trip through our email and phone conversations. Thank you to Outspire for helping make our first trip to NM a wonderful one!

We had Larry as our guide. We wanted something off beaten path, reasonably challenging and with photo ops. He picked us up at our hotel in Santa fe and drove us an hour north to bandolier monument where we backed up the north rim of Frijoles canyon. At the top views were spectacular. Very remote at the top. Quiet and natural. Never saw another person on the trail. Larry was very knowledgeable. Pointed out interesting local fauna sites. Found shards of accient pottery. He provided water and snacks. Very fun. Expensive but worth it.

I did some hiking with Karen early June 2013. This is my third trip with her. This time we went to the beautiful Rio en Medio falls just outside of Santa Fe, so green for New Mexico, beautiful wildflowers, and rugged , good hiking. Karen is amazing, she knows the fauna, flora, geology of the area as if she lived in the wilderness for all of her life. She is safe, thoughtful, and experienced in her guiding knowledge, and is a wonderful, personable guide. She will tailor a hike to your interest and level of challenge that you request and are able to manage with fun and safety. The evening before the Rio en Medio hike, we took a shorter hike on a 3 billion year old volcanic field, Cerros del Rio, it was beautiful, stark, parched, glowing sunset, we saw prairie dog homes, the old route 66, and amazingly enough "jackalopes " running through the field. The next time I am in New Mexico, I already have more plans to hike with Karen in pleas I have not been as of yet. you should join her when you are near Santa Fe and want some great hiking with an amazing guide.

This hike was amazing. We took the 3 hour Tent Rock hike. Our guide, Scott, was a geologist and taught us all about the formations, different rocks (now I know what rhyolite is!!) and volcanic faults. He even provided choco covered peanuts for a snack. Yum!! I would totally recommend this hike.
