“Interesting and Charming”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

The key feature of this otherwise charming little chapel is the spiral staircase. It really is a piece of craftsmanship to admire. The chapel also boasts some very fine stained glass windows and for its size some very detailed and elaborate Stations of the Cross.

“Worth a short visit if you are nearby”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

The Loretto Chapel is a nice place to visit if you are nearby, but not a "must see". I actually enjoyed the general architecture of the Chapel as much as I did the staircase. If I hadn't already known the story of the staircase before I visited, it would have been more interesting. But it is a very pretty chapel, inside and out. One thing that put a damper on our visit was the person collecting the admission fees. They accept credit cards, but he seemed irritated when we paid with one. He was much friendlier to my adult son who was with us and who paid in cash. The gift shop is large and very nice.

“Miraculous”

The legend is nothing but magical. The staircase is an engineering marvel that is not to be miswed. I have seen it many times and I am still in awe of its beauty.

“Not to be missed!”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

If you know the story behind this chapel, it is already on your list of things you must see. If you don't know the story, put it on your list t things you must see and all will be revealed. A hint: the centerpiece of the already lovely chapel is a staircase that stands with absolutely no support. The story behind it will amaze you. GO!

“Amazing Staircase”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

The staircase is why folks visit this chapel. There is an entrance fee. The staircase is fantastic, a spiral with no visible means of support. Built in early 1800s by a carpenter who heated the wood in water to bend it.
