We have to visit Loretto Chapel on every visit to Santa Fe. The story behind their beautiful staircase is amazing and inspiring. Be sure to view the Barbara Hershey movie about it before your visit.

The loretto chapel is privately owned and there is an admission fee. I cant remember exactly, but something like $2 or $4 with kids under 6 free. The staircase is beautiful and fascinating and I was looking forward to climbing it. No such luck. Of course they dont allow anyone on it. The rest of the chapel is beautiful and has stained glass. Also, there is a recording playing that gives you the history and information on the chapel.

Well worth the stop to hear the story and see the workmanship of the staircase. It's convenient to everything downtown so easy to add in as a side trip from galleries and shopping.

This is a very small chapel, privately owned now and there is a $3 admission. The staircase is indeed a miracle--so supporting structure at all. Quite a nice story to go along with the stairway.

Chapel was built in the 1850's. The miraculous staircase is worth seeing. It was the subject of a national network tv special and certainly makes you think. $3 entry fee. I have enclosed photos before the railings as it was originally built and after as it is now.
