“Check out the "miracle" staircase and grab your pressed souvenir penny on your way out of the gift shop...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

This is a well disguised tourist trap! I do not mind paying $3 to see the staircase, but I did expect a pamphlet or something! You walk into the chapel, see the staircase, hear the story on distorted speakers and see a picture of what it looked like before the rails were installed. The atmosphere was not what you would expect in a place where such a "holy" event has taken place--and to make it even better there is a gift shop selling holy water, or a necklace with the staircase and your initial on it. I paid $1.85 for a photo copied pamphlet so I could read about the staircase story! And as you walk out, a press a penny machine lurks with the good ole miracle staircase on it...to me, the miracle is this is ranked as a top 20 attraction in Santa Fe. I am not telling you to not see it, just don't have high expectations...

“The Staircase is Awe Inspiring”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

It is a small chapel and other than the staircase does not have much of interest. Having said that, it is worth a visit, just for the staircase. Anyone who understands construction or appreciates wood will love the amazing feat of the staircase and the story that goes with it. There is a $3/person charge which might seem expensive for the visit but I believe the money helps support the nuns when they retire so we thought it a small price to pay to see a staircase constructed in this fashion which you will not see anywhere else in the world.

“Great place to start your new life together!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

My wife and I were married at the Loretto Chapel last summer and went back for our 1 year anniversary this May. Certainly a neat story to hear about the magical staircase, but for us this will always be much more than that.

“It's just a staircase”

The chapel is small but pretty. The miraculous staircase is interesting to see but doesn't seem too miraculous. Not sure it's worth the $3 entry fee.

“Beautiful Chapel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

A beautiful chapel with that famous spiral staircase. We were lucky to catch a Baroque concert here. A nice place to sit and be quiet a bit during your sightseeing.
