This was a good place to stay at a fair price. Reception was friendly and a little wacky in a nice Santa Fe way. The rooms have a themed approach and are decorated to a good basic standard. Breakfast was more than we expected and was more than enough to get you started - don't expect a major spread - that's not in the deal.

it is a mile or so out of town but the bus is pretty frequent and contained a good cross section of Santa Fe characters on our trips. The furniture and homeware emporium next door to the Motel was also worth an hour's exploration.

All in all the Silver Saddle was a good experience in a safe and friendly neighbourhood. Don't expect a designer hotel but go to enjoy a little local character with good hosts.

What a great place. More than affordable. The owners and staff are FANTASTIC...welcoming, helpful, interesting...as one patron said...everyone becomes friends in this place. The rooms were nicely decorated, spacious, immaculate and had everything and more that we needed....hot showers, microwave, fridge, really comfy beds, TV...??? anything else???

Close to downtown...15 minute drive...close to amazing restaurants, right beside a wonderful store (bring a truck) called Jackalope.

Great continental breakfast.
A perfect spot for us and we have been travelling for 10 months, so that is saying something.

Room Tip: They are probably all really nice.

Not for everyone but definitely for us. This motel brought back the best of travelling to me. No frills. Simple clean room and basic breakfast. Why pay more when what you want is room and bed. We were hardly there. Do not let the location fool you. This is quiet clean and retro place to stay with great ownere.

We just finished the third conversation regarding our now booked stay at this cool site via & with "Ted", he’s staff; and wow. We can't wait to check in considering the insight… Ted (now a friend) was so helpful it took you back to those days of genuine customer care. Now long ago forgotten by the profit singularly only miserly bigger franchises. For real, for real, get this, well ;;; they called us back just to be sure all was correct. We felt so good about this we’ve booked additional days. Check out the cool theme rooms and super unreal pricing. Ted also suggested the “Cowgirls” restaurant & wow what a menu to be had… My wifie is from Tx and read the black ink right off the menu… ha ha

This is our third stay at the Silver Saddle (Feb 17-20). Overall, we experienced the same excellent service consistent with our two other previous stays. You’ll find this “budget” motel to be uncommonly rare, and packed with values. My impression is that Dawn, Miguel, Ted and owner Penny’s idea of hospitality is akin to treating guests more as clients, especially for those actively seeking assistance or advice about sightseeing, dining, and shopping. Their knowledge, extra touches to comfort, and genuine interest for helping you get the most out of your stay is indeed rare.
Since at least summer 2009, the Saddle has continued its various room upgrades, the latest being upgrading to wide screen TVs. Overall, rooms are bright and very comfortable. In the past, Dawn has given us naproxene for headaches, great tips on affordable New Mexican-style dining (Maria’s, Pantry, The Shed), along with affordable shopping tips, hiking & biking trail guides (Dale Ball trails) and tips on many points of interest too numerous to mention. There’s a very handy reference library in the main office containing all kinds of outdoor guides, books, maps and magazines focusing on Santa Fe and other destination locations in New Mexico. It’s a great source for trip ideas. Shopping for southwestern-style décor is as quick as a walk across the parking lot to Jacalope, a good starting place for gift shopping.
For the thrifty, bus route 2 offers stops right at the motel, where a 20 minute bus ride takes you to downtown central, within a ten minute walking distance to everything--the plaza, governor’s palace and government offices, art galleries, restaurants, shops and more. Bring your questions or trip ideas over to the main office during the freebee continental breakfast (7:30-10A) and take advantage of their tips and assistance.

Room Tip: Check website for room rates but CALL TO RESERVE
