Packed with art galleries, Canyon road is a nice way to spend an afternoon in Santa Fe. Parking right on Canyon road can be a little bit of a challenge, but if you drive up a mile or so there is a public parking lot across from El Farol restaurant. You have to pay at the paystation, either by the hour or for a full day. I think it was around $9 for the whole day. We just fed a few dollars in because we had planned to walk down one side of the road looking in galleries, then back up the other side of the road. It took a couple of hours to see it all.
Lots of great art, nothing's cheap so bring your wallet if you want to bring something home. The shops around the Plaza are a better bet if you are just looking for some touristy gifts (even better is Jackalope!).
We ended the day back across from El Farol, the Tapas restaurant. It smelled so good we ended up staying for lunch. A little pricey but delicious.More
